ATs final table fold or call ?
«

At casino yesterday final table of £10 MTT. Payout structure fairly standard. 70 orig players. 6 left in. I have 10 BBs average stack. To most players they see me as tight - majority of my showdown hands big pairs. All players folded to me on SB. I have ATs. Player on BB seems good player -appears to be using his bigger stack (15 BBs) to win pots, although only recent hand to showdown was raising with A6o on cutoff. I just limped in, hoping he would raise to about 3 BBs and I intended to go over top. Unfortunately he beat me to it and went all in . Easy call here ? What about original limp good idea or would it have been better to raise and then very easy call if he goes all in ?

you limp to trap and then consider folding when the trap works?..no, that doesn't make sense. Your plan worked..now call.

Snap, like boldie says you limped to trap so now execute the final part of the plan.
He is never going to be raise folding when you have 10BB so this is surely what you expected?
I would just jam from the small incase he just checks!

The trap you just set has exploded into a spectacular result. Folding would be like finally getting a date with a really fit girl and hoping beyond hope itself you might be able to sneak a kiss at the end of the night. At the end of the night she actually invites you back to her flat for no strings hot sex and you just walk away crying. I don't want that guy to be me so I call Usain Bolt quick.

Thanks for your thoughts. Only about 5% of hands significantly better than ATs, and about 4% (smaller pairs) a coin toss. - I put his betting range much bigger than that. His all in made me think he didnt want a call . So I called . Unfortunately he turned over the big slick and was out.
I felt I was playing better than a number of players on the table. Clearly 2 of them on the table were very tight and protecting their chips. Part of me wonders whether I would have been better carrying on as I was making some timely raises with these players on the blinds, rather than risking all on 1 hand (especially calling rather than raising) . Even though I was low on chips (compared to blinds) I was not yet desparately so.
If it had been in the final of the big tournament with
Phil
Ivey
,
Gus
Hansen
etc. I think it was easy call where I am happy to gamble rather than being outplayed in flops. I can but dream !!

Sometimes that fit girl is going to be quite hairy and also clueless in bed. Better to put the experience quickly behind you and move on without letting it dampen your spirits. You played the hand better than your oppo imo.

no you wouldn't.
you only have 10xBB here. ideally any raise should be AI. if you do for some reason make it less it should be with the intention/hope of getting it AI later. risking it all on 1 hand is exactly what you should be doing

Probably best to have one more go in the morning, just to make sure like.

First reaction was thanks for the compliment - didnt think I was that good a player - but I assume you mean because of the size of the blinds right !
