Harris has Hurkakz round 1, but he has dropped down the rankings.  Doesn't seem too bad after.

Hurkakz has pulled out so its Dušan Lajović (LL) now

The Wimbledon draws are out.

https://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/draws/gentlemens-singles

Raducanu plays Xu round 1.  Winner plays Vondrousova or Kessler (not Allan) then winner Sabalenka.  So out by round 3.

Boulter plays Badosa round 1; Badosa not as flakey as she was.  Draw ok if she gets through right up to Keys in possible quarter.

Klugman has Fernandez round 1.  She is one of the more bearable seeds?  Gets Keys before Boulter in round 3 (unlikely she gets there)

Dart winnable round 1, Haddad Mia round 2.

Kartal has Ostapenko round 1, which should be entertaining on one of the main courts?

Burrage has Swiatek round 2 if she gets there.

Fran Jones tough round 2 if she gets there.

Watson has Tauson, depends which Watson shows up.

Stojsavljevic out in 1?

On men

Fearnley plays current hype pot Fonseca

Draper easier draw.  Cilic is round 2, and Bublic 3.  Bublic obviously more difficult than Cilic (even if he did well at Nottingham)

Monday has Paul round 1, which is a shame

Pinnington Jones has a relatively easy draw.

Evans has Clarke then Djokovic.  So one Brit gets through just 1 round there.

Harris has Hurkakz round 1, but he has dropped down the rankings.  Doesn't seem too bad after.

Searle might win a game or two, but then faces Zverev (BOO!)

Assume Fery doesn't last long despite an easier draw.

Similarly don't think Crawford lasts long either.

Norrie has Bautista Agut then Tiafoe.  Tough.

Tarvet gets beat by Alcaraz in round 2 if he continues the dream run.

Sorry if I have missed any.

So week 2 is Draper only?

Boulter is odds on to be GB number 1 after Wimbledon again after that win.  Raducanu was 2.84 just now vs Vondrousova which is probably fair, though couldn't resist a bet.  Kartal and Boulter both 30/100 ish.  Didn't see much of the Kartal game but every point I saw seemed to be Penko not been arsed to chase it.  Think Boulter did more to deserve the win.  Dart had plenty of chances as did Watson, but both have them away.  Not sure how either comes back now.

Think Boulter can easily make wk 2 where she should meet Keys.  She likely has to beat Vekic though, but there isn't much between them.  Would take Boulter if not favourite.

Men are more promising.  Pinnington Jones and Harris had good wins.  Both odds against, and might back Pinnington Jones in round 2.  Tarvet has been incredible from nowhere, but obviously loses in round 2.  Fery is evens to get further than I was expecting, but has been blessed with a good draw as mentioned in the above post.  Norrie looks too short Vs Tiafoe?

Draper looks solid still.

Am looking to bet Cazaux Vs De Minaur for the rounds big shock.

Cazaux was 10.5 this morning Vs De Minaur.  Think Cazaux is getting better again, and De Minaur isn't at his peak.  Feel 9.5/1 is pretty decent, but hard to win over 5 sets.

Think Raducanu too short Vs Sabalenka so won't be rushing back in. She is playing very well though... Pinnington Jones might be worth a look.  Do like him as a player.

Turns out Norrie wasn't too short, and maybe Boulter isn't a bet ever at Wimbledon?

No seeds left to face Kartal until the quarter final now.  Could face a centre court battle with Osaka before that?

Norrie is Scottish again :-)
Emma put up a good showing

More than that for Raducanu; she is playing the best she has in years, and drops from GB number 1 to 3.

Kartal near guarantees a seeding for the US Open if she wins.  Don't think she has many points to defend right up to the Tunisian tournament she won. Kartal has opened up well for her.  Even the potential quarter final isn't that tough.  She is about 50/50 today.

Tougher for the other 2 to get seeded, as Raducanu has points to defend at the Citi Open, but could see them all in the top 30 after the US swing.  Maybe they are all more likely to get seeded in Australia?

Girls and boys Singles has started btw.  Klugman seeded 2, Xu not seeded and Stojsavljevic already out (spelling tests easier from now on).

Good to see Norrie playing well again.  Who had Norrie/Kartal for a week 2 double?

From a friend

Raducanu playing well ( I rate her)
Kartal and Norrie over achieving ( who knows)
Hannah Klugman ( she’s one to watch)
Meg knight next one to watch come through

There is a small grass tournament at Nottingham this week.  Edmund is playing Broady and a few other interesting Brits.  Does anyone know if you can just pop in and watch?

I tried looking for tickets, but kept getting Nottingham Open links instead, and couldn't even find it in events on the Nottingham tennis centre website.  Obviously not going to drive an hour and a half on a work day just on the off chance I can watch

Xu so much more solid than Klugman right now.  Klugman seems erratic in every game I see her in now, same last year too.  She'll do a blistering shot then miss the court by more than a metre.

Don't know if Xu goes all the way this week, but she has the tools to do so.  Probably best for Klugman, that she doesn't face her.

Just got back from Wimbledon today! Watched Mimi Xu in her semifinal. Tough three set loss after a second set comeback. She did really well in many parts of the match and I'm sure she's gutted as she could have taken that one.

Her first serve is really big. 17 aces in this match! If she gets some consistency with it and improves her second serve too then it could be a really good weapon.  My first time watching Junior tennis - watched both the men's Junior semis too and it is really bizarre that they don't have lets on serve. If it hits the net cord on serve and goes in then you just carry on the the point.

Now I suppose she has to focus on improving so she is ready for all her grass court wild cards next summer.

Fun day out but so hot. I'm wilted.

I’m a huge tennis fan too and totally agree we need a general thread so much gets buried under FRED. I was buzzing after watching Cam Norrie’s comeback, left him two sets and a break down, then found out he’d won later from my mum! Unbelievable. Been using DashTickets lately between matches to read up on games. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s doubles!

Good stuff.  Do enjoy the outside courts.  I did watch quite a bit of that game as not many in the office on a Friday and can just put the phone by my screen.  Obviously not watching every point, but can stop for the crucial ones.  Think Xu has finished her A levels now, as she did at least one in the summer. She has a birthday where she could have moved up a year, but not sure on this.

Assume she can concentrate more on tennis now, so won't be hanging round for next season's grass tournaments. Her serve speed is already good enough for decent tournaments, so sure she'll do ok too.  She talks a good game too, and only saw the girls tournament as practice.

She has 18 months on Klugman, so hopefully Klugman can step up a bit by next year and hasn't hit a plateau already.

The let thing is definitely unnerving.  Not sure why they do it.

Edmunds has made the final against JPJ claiming back all those places. Jack will get inside the top 200 with a win
