Same for Sherlock (although I do heart the Cumberbatch)

Have you been watching Elementary?
Really didn't think I'd like it, but found Johnny Lee Miller very good

I haven't tbh but I have heard good things about JLM's portrayal.

Might try to catch up

I'd recommend it.
The episodes them selves were a bit formulaic,
Mystery > Cops state the obvious solution >Sherlock rules it out then goes through two other explanations < arrives at the twist and explains to the perpetrator how he worked it out

Miller got more eccentric and interesting as the series went on, and Lucy Lui surprisingly works OK as Watson.

not mega-telly, but entertaining enough.

Elementary got better as it went on, the last two or three were pretty decent with better stories.  He's still very annoying though, particularly in the first five minutes of each episode. If the Police are as incompetent in real life as they are in the program they'd be fired pretty quickly.

Agreed that it's entertaining, certainly something to watch when there's nothing else on.   Will watch series 2.

Ah.

The rumour was that he would actually be playing Moriarty, so that was cleverly done by the producers:
