Im curious to know how u pro blondies handle a string of bad beats?

I have been holding my own in online cash games now for about 4 months and recently started to do very well. But 1 day I hit string of bad beats and then things have gone south from there, my bank roll has crumbled and now Im doubting myself when playing. Im a emotional train wreck now!

Any advice on how to bounce back and nurse my bank roll back to health?

Thanks in advance all the way from sunny South Africa

Time off, it's that simple. Do something else, be it going for a run, or pwning your friends online over a game of Rome: Total War. A few days off can be just as valuable as a good cash.

Yeah time off, do something else for a bit (I played a computer game called Enemy Territory and went and shot loads of people) and just try to ignore the bad bits and learn from other bits if you can Smiley

Good luck

SA eh, where abouts?

This has been a personal battle for a couple of years and still is to a lesser extent. Time off is definitely the answer for me even if it just means going and playing live somewhere instead of online. My mindset can be totally different between my live and online play, eg i can be totally on tilt online and totally balanced live or i can be bored of one and eager to do the other. If all else fails surely tilt is the reason they invented lapdancing clubs alwyas seems to cure.

I tilt more in lapdancing clubs than I do at poker.

Not that constructive for my life really.

Make a big pretty graph and admire your general upward trend over the course of many months.

Play 80 sit n gos a day (consequently get 40 bad beats a day Sad ) you either learn to live with it, or turn into a fruit loop.

I thought it would take just over 5 minutes for someone to jump on that one.

Well done Kev, inside the margin

True bad beats, ie when you get your money in as a big favorite only to be outdrawn ----- Just keep telling yourself YOU made the correct play and was just unlucky.

Remember, if you have no bad beats - your playing REAL bad!!

Time off is the only answer if it really gets to you.

As for confidence, drop down a few levels and play ABC poker - amazing how a few winning sessions restores the confidence

Thanks for the advice guys!

They started as bad beats which turned into bad decisions, but the thought of a lame newbie at the end of my scope has its appeal.
Time for a small vacation from the game

Thanks again
