I watched a report on them last week where they outlined even after they came out of admin a few years back they were offering players prem wages, I means they still have players on over 32k a week?!! wtf. With small crowds how can they still not have sorted this mess out?

There is also a shambles on different owners for various parts of the ground, outside parking, training ground etc...

The sooner they introduce a cap on wages, based on a clubs income the better.

Pompey have been trying to get planning permission for a new stadium for about 20 years.

Fratton Park is a shithole that should have been torndown years ago. Like a relic from the 1930s.

Council won't let them move though. There's a perfect place just outside the city with all the infrastructure in place.

"Place of natural beauty" or somesuch bullshit.

As if anywhere in Portsmouth has natural beauty!

Isn't it the case now that they'd be unable to move as they couldn't generate any money from selling off Fratton Park as Gydamak owns all the ground surrounding it?

bobby1, good Old 'Arry's blameless. How silly of you for thinking otherwise.  Roll Eyes

lol yes, his reasoning is that his money spent is less than the money they clubs resold these players for. He ignores the fact that it isn't actually paying 5 million for these people that kills the clubs its is giving those players 80k a week for 4 years that does.

John utaka being the best example of the mess he got that club into.

Given he mentioned he was rubbish with money and that he has the writing of a 2 year old child, we can all now firmly discredit anything he's ever said in relation to the state of Pompey, Saints etc.

God I hope he doesn't get the England job.

Not a joke.

Portsmouth have decided not to fine Dave Kitson for his red card on saturday.

Because they haven't paid him in the first place.

There must be something up with the Football League if they don't get a 30 point deduction, because what the football league is generally saying is that it's ok to go into admin as many times as you want.

I feel sorry for the Pompey fans because they are a good bunch, but the best thing they can d is get a fan group to buy the club out, instead of this crap.

I'm a Sheff Wed fan and it's just a joke to see all this happen, I remember the Crystal Palace story too well.

IMO the football league are helping this happen tho. it is not in their benefit to have the income stream of their biggest asset reduce. It is in their interest for clubs that are in trouble to get an easy out, which is what the admin route is. Which club was it that were going to file for admin at half time in their last game of the season when they were losing 2-0 at half time because they were to be relegated and thought they would get the ten point penalty that season instead of carrying it over to the next?

It is now used as a wipe the slate clean and lets start again, then running their business the same way.

Scudamore at the Prem lge is the best example of how pathetic the rulers are. Only ever talks about the money that the Prem makes and ignores the fact that most clubs in it, and a lot of them that drop out are on their arse most of the time, yet still finding huge amounts in wages to players.

His job spec is to raise the money in the game, not run the game.

Don't get me started on what they have done to the Champions league and UEFA Cup, If anyone needs an example of running the game for money other than achievement then take a look at how many fixtures they have managed to get into those competitions. The cash that these fixtures now generate is actually making the difference between good vibrant leagues in some countries and the lop sided financially imbalanced leagues that most of them currently are.

I agree - football authorities are a joke. It will continue until the penalties are much more severe.

That is the state we are in, yet the rich clubs get richer as the rest fall apart.

Championship clubs' wages in general are higher than turnover.  I think we fall into this bracket too and it just can't carry on.  Portsmouth going into administration might just save us from the drop and for that reason alone I hope they go down.

And the latest entry in the "You Couldn't Make This Stuff Up" category, Portsmouth are one of the nominees for the Football League's 'Community Club of the Year' award!  To be fair, these were announced on 9th Feb, so before the administration happened, but I can't imagine it being a popular victory among all the local businesses who got screwed along the way on 2 separate occasions.
