Match vs Portsmouth today

Interesting to be their first opponents since they went into administration for the 2nd time in 2 years.
Ever since they exited admin I've been wondering how they could afford to sign players such as Dave Kitson, Liam Lawrence, Luke Varney, etc, and several of those players still form part of their current squad.
I'm sure every supporter of a Championship club thinks that their latest 10 point deduction is a joke, not to mention supporters of Luton, Rotherham, etc who were hit with bigger deductions for various reasons.
Where's the deterrent to stop other clubs repeatedly using the admin route to waive debts?
I feel for their supporters, but if they avoid relegation this season then this gives the green light to every club to go through a cycle of overspending/admin every few seasons.
The penalty should increase by 10 points for each successive admin, IMO!
NB: At least it gives us a chance to sing "Pay up Pompey, Pompey pay up!"

Automatic 2 division relegation puts an end to this.

Understand the view, but the Pompey fans don't deserve this crap. Generally passionate, very long suffering and been legged over for nearly a decade by a succession of lying chumps

I agree the fans deserve better. I don't ever want to go through a repeat of the administration days, and wouldn't wish it on any supporter of another club.

They won the FA Cup under false pretences.
They had lots of players they couldn't afford.
The fans weren't moaning then, were they?
Not much sympathy for them.
Although Peter Storrie should be banned from having any involment in any football club.

The sooner around 5 clubs or so go to the wall and someone with some balls gets Into a position of power at the top of the Prem and football league the better. Until then football will just be run to make money for a select few instead of a sport.
OP is spot on, it's now a shambles.

There must be something up with the Football League if they don't get a 30 point deduction, because what the football league is generally saying is that it's ok to go into admin as many times as you want.
I feel sorry for the Pompey fans because they are a good bunch, but the best thing they can d is get a fan group to buy the club out, instead of this crap.
I'm a Sheff Wed fan and it's just a joke to see all this happen, I remember the Crystal Palace story too well.

TBH if it happened to my team (and it certainly isn't impossible if it turns out Tony Fernandes is full of shit and not wrth anything like what he claims - or if he buggers off when we get relegated leaving us with a million pund per wk wage bill) I would rather we folded and relaunched as per Aldershot or Wimbledon.
Lurching from crisis to crisis like Pompey, Plymouth and Darlington is just prolonging the agony for everyone involved.

I watched a report on them last week where they outlined even after they came out of admin a few years back they were offering players prem wages, I means they still have players on over 32k a week?!! wtf. With small crowds how can they still not have sorted this mess out?
There is also a shambles on different owners for various parts of the ground, outside parking, training ground etc...
The sooner they introduce a cap on wages, based on a clubs income the better.

I'm no business expert, but from a taxpayers perspective how is it that a club that has been in administration before is allowed to let a tax bill just grow and grow? Absolutely ridiculous.
Also agree with the rest of you who think they've got off lightly. Becoming a joke now.

Pompey have been trying to get planning permission for a new stadium for about 20 years.
Fratton Park is a shithole that should have been torndown years ago. Like a relic from the 1930s.
Council won't let them move though. There's a perfect place just outside the city with all the infrastructure in place.
"Place of natural beauty" or somesuch bullshit.
As if anywhere in Portsmouth has natural beauty!

IMO the football league are helping this happen tho. it is not in their benefit to have the income stream of their biggest asset reduce. It is in their interest for clubs that are in trouble to get an easy out, which is what the admin route is. Which club was it that were going to file for admin at half time in their last game of the season when they were losing 2-0 at half time because they were to be relegated and thought they would get the ten point penalty that season instead of carrying it over to the next?
It is now used as a wipe the slate clean and lets start again, then running their business the same way.
Scudamore at the Prem lge is the best example of how pathetic the rulers are. Only ever talks about the money that the Prem makes and ignores the fact that most clubs in it, and a lot of them that drop out are on their arse most of the time, yet still finding huge amounts in wages to players.
His job spec is to raise the money in the game, not run the game.
Don't get me started on what they have done to the Champions league and UEFA Cup, If anyone needs an example of running the game for money other than achievement then take a look at how many fixtures they have managed to get into those competitions. The cash that these fixtures now generate is actually making the difference between good vibrant leagues in some countries and the lop sided financially imbalanced leagues that most of them currently are.

We coiuld get around to the mess Harry Redknapp has left the last few teams he has managed in but as he is flavour of the month right now it's prob better we save that for a rainy day.
Look what happened to Southampton and Pompey str8 after he left, and look at the transfer business they did when he was manager.

Isn't it the case now that they'd be unable to move as they couldn't generate any money from selling off Fratton Park as Gydamak owns all the ground surrounding it?
bobby1, good Old 'Arry's blameless. How silly of you for thinking otherwise.
