I was looking back at this 100 press up thingy and I realised that I don't understand it.

Say for instance my initial test puts me in col 1 week 3 and my mate in col 3 week 3 (which is much tougher).

Now suppose at the end of week 3 my results mean I move on to col 1 week 4 and his results mean he moves of to col 3 week 4.

this happens every week until we have both completed week 6. me by completing col 1 and him by completing col 3. We are then both supposed to be ready to do 100 push ups but I will have done, and be capable od doing far less than him at this point.

Can anyone explain please?

As I suspected. No one understands it.

Just in case you didn't manage the hundred, I would suggest going back a couple of weeks in the program and building up your strength again. Maybe Week 5 or Week 6 would be good for you and help regain your confidence? Don't give up though, you're closer than you think!

Thats from the website.  I read that as, if you've followed what you have said above (1 person from col1, 1 from col 3), then the person from col1 probably wont be able to perform 100 pushups and will have to repeat a week or 2 and the person from col3 is more likely to be able to perform the 100.

If that's the case why is there even a col 1 or a col 2?

Why not have everyone in the one column and progress until they can do the 100?

If you go back a week or two from col 1 week 6, where do you go to and where does it lead?

It is simply because the site and test is called 100 push ups.  The aim is 100 push ups in 7 weeks and that is what they will say you can do regardless of how far you have built up you strength.

100 push ups is a much easier message than 50 push ups for group 1, 75 push ups for group 2 and 100 pus ups for group 3.  Presumably the website will then be www.50pushupsforsome75pushupsforothers100pushupsfortherestohandafewwillfailtoo.com and nobody will click on it.  Accuracy isn't so important these days, it is all in the PR.

Can you do 50?

You'd do another "test" to see what col you would go into.

I assume the reason its split is because it gives people achievable goals to work towards.  If you were someone with no strength and had to start in col 3 then you would get pretty annoyed very quickly that you couldn't complete it and maybe quit.  If you started in col1 and kept going through the weeks and at the end of it you have to go back to week 5 in col2, you'd be less likely to quit as you can see the progress you have made and you will only be pushing yourself a further without killing yourself.

No.

So I have to do col 3 for 100 right?

At least that makes sense.

Yea col3 for 100, the rest of it just gives you something that's achievable at working towards col3
