Online is the mortgage payment  but B&M I prefer, although certain things are better for online 1 Tournament structures online can be miles better than b&m (take for instance gutshot chips & fast blinds) 2 Online is 24/7/365 so no prob finding a omaha hi/lo cash game 3 Easy just to nip upstairs and play and not have to drive 30miles to nearest cardroom 4 More hands per hour online 5 Smacking the mouse when you lose to an 80/20 B&M miles better for tells, gossip, blind straddles, catching up with friends and relaxing But both good in my opinion |

For me online is the bread and butter. Three times as many hands per hour on each table. Nine times as many hands if 3-tabling. As for the difference in blind structure, I'm sure that the strucures are better online when you consider you are being dealt 60-70 hands per hour (on Pokerstars), compared to live where you can expect to see 20-25 per hour. So a 15 minute blind level online is equivalent to a 45 minute blind level live in terms of number of hands seen per level. If I was a recreational player then yes live can be more fun for sure. But in terms of making money, online wins hands down. I've just analysed where my earnings have come from in the last year, if anyone wants a read there should be a link to my blog in my profile. I hope this doesn't count as spamming  Rob S, are you Rob Sherwood? If so, enjoy your blog. Hope we see you at Luton again soon. Promise to have showered first! Not much to add to the debate really...prefer live, particularly big events/festivals for the challenge aspect. Online for me funds the buy ins to those biggies. |

Yeah online pays the bills to be fair and if you looking purely from a poker perspective it wins hands down. Live is far more entertaining and social experience which i thoroughly enjoy. A mixture of the both keeps me happy

I still see online as 'poker simulation' maybe thats part of my problem with it. I know you're playing for real money but it's still a simulation.

Is it just me who thinks you more often than not get a better structure online?
I echo this. I think players sometimes forget that hands are played a much quicker rate, yet the clocks are roughly the same as your average b & m game. |

From reading some of the comments, it seems that while people appreciate the convenience and efficiency of online play, they find live play a much more fun and enjoyable experience.
I am the same. I don't think you can really appreciate the joy of the game until you have played live. Personally, I often opt for live because of the buzz and the potential adrenalin rush of raking in a huge pot or bluffing with rags. Maybe it's an ego thing, but this is the part of poker I love.

Online definitely wins it.
1. No second hand smoke
2. No smelly/gobby table mates. (You can turn off chat).
3. Multi tabling, very little waiting. You can play different games at same time, PLO PLO8 LO8 etc SNGs.
4. If you decide to play for 5 minutes or 5 days its always there for you. Live is limited to certain days and often bad times (ie 9.15 starts 4.30am ends!).
