So, the first hand is dealt at 2.20pm local time in Vienna, and we are under way. Starting chips 10,000.
Chris Bjorn takes down the first pot at Blondies table and Alex, a popular local, lights his vanilla pipe. In this non smoking tournament I might add. The elegant My Kremser has a quiet word, Alex protests, while getting a last few puffs in, but eventually complies.
Player out first hand, KK V's AA.
Tikay gets dealt KK on his first hand and is making a beeline for the final with 12,000 chips.

Tikay gaining 20% on the first hand. He must be 8/11 to make the final now

The best of wishes to all the Norwegian players in the tournament, and I would be delighted to get some reports on their progress if possible. I'm positive there's gonna be a surprise top 3 coming from at least one of them.

Any chance you can find out how Anthony Ure or Warren Whitmore are doing?

Chuc, possibly the most consistant tourny winner in Paris, is off to a bad start. Down to 7000.
Chris Bjorin, Sweden in London, Starts well up to 13000
Michael Kerner, germany, takes 2 6's and beats 2 10's making a flush stacking up to 13000.
El Blondie 13000

Devil Fish has been spotted.
Beavers and Noha Boailen are on the same table.
Joe beavers got top straight and got paid, only to give 'em all away and go out!!
Clash on Table 34 was top pair and a nut flush draw, v's trips. Trips held up and another man down.

Stefan Erker - having entered the EPT event was presented with a tv sign off form- "I don't understand english" he protested "and we are in Austria!" There was no german version available so Thomas Kremser had to return his money. This is obviously one for John Duthiers secretary to sort out for futur events....Oh sorry he dosen't have one!....And ALex has put his pipe away.
Barry Boatman just gone
