Not every driver has broken the speed limit thats absolute nonsense, how can you quantify that?
Everyone has broken the speed limit. Even if 1mph over.
Nonsense!
So you have NEVER broken the speed limit ever in your driving life?

Sounds like a fair sentence. Although had he killed the other guy, a max. of 5 years would of been very light indeed.
Everybody does or has broken speed limits. There are occasions when it is safe to do so, 80mph on an empty motorway in clear weather for example. Crossing an unbroken white line at 90mph on the brow of a hill is perhaps not the greatest idea.
It's the un-insured, un-taxed that really wind me up.
So by the attitude of some on here what you are saying is that you have broken the speed limit?
Not every driver has broken the speed limit thats absolute nonsense, how can you quantify that?
If it where safe to break the speed limit then their wouldn't be speed restrictions in place.
What really annoys me are these manufacturers that make cars that go in excess of a 100 mph, there is no need for it - it breaks the speed limit!
Or even better are the numpties who increase their break horse power in a vehicle so can go faster, whats the point?
Absolutely yes. If you've held a licence and drive on a regular basis. There will be many instances when technically you've broken the speed limit. For example: Leaving a national speed limit area into a built up area catches out many people, despite braking hard they will often travel into the 30 zone at 30-35mph.
I'm not saying everybody speeds through poor driving. Everybody speeds to a small degree in error at some point, this is why traffic police do not bother with speeding offences of a minor nature, 32mph in a 30 zone will not get you pulled over. 35 mph probably would. 32mph is still speeding.
There is also the issue of speedometer accuracy. They are hardly ever 100% accurate.
You may think you never speed, GlasgowBandit, but the chances are your speedometer gives a very minor false reading... sometimes one or two MPH. You could of been speeding everyday for years and not be aware of it. That said, you could of been driving slower than you think too.
RE: 100mph+ cars & improving performance.
I have friends that use their cars for track days. That is where they speed and where they use speeds in excess of 100mph. There are also un-restricted roads in Europe where 100mph+ is a common accurance. Some of us do drive outside of the UK.
Improving the perrformance of a car will also improve the over taking speeds of a car. Thus making it a safer place to be when over taking a tractor or slow moving vehicle.
I will freely admit I speed, but only in error by minor amounts and only when safe to do so.

Speeding? My niece was almost killed by a speeding driver on a 30mph road 4 yrs ago. The driver was doing 40mph, oh and she had been drinking. I never break the speed limit intentionally and I will never, ever have an alcoholic drink - not ONE - if I have the car. Please don't patronise me by mentioning the old excuses 'But one drink doesn't put you over the limit.' Complete BS. One pint of alcoholic drink or measure of spirit is one too many. My niece still hasn't fully recovered. She can't use one eye and she has become very insecure where she used to be very confident. If the driver had been travelling at 30-32mph, Lisa wouldn't have spent 8 months in hospital, getting various brain scans etc.
If you drive in a 20mph zone and decide for some crazy reason that you will continue to drive at 30mph, then shame on you. You could kill a child. You could kill MY child. 'We all do it', 'we all speed' is nonsense. Once you are involved in a phone conversation with a 40 yr old father at 2am who is telling you that his daughter is about to die, then you will think twice about putting the foot down.
The driver? She took the cowards way out. Those of you who know me, will know my views on suicide. No one has the right to take a life. Absolutely without question. DO NOT start a debate on this thread about it.
If you see me driving on the road and try and get me to speed up by being aggresive towards me, it won't work.
You are all talking about breaking the speed limit - you are exceeding the speed limit. If you won't get pulled over by the cops for driving at 32 in a 30 - then I would suggest that you are not breaking the law. Exceeding the speed limit, yes - but if you were breaking the law, the traffic police WILL pull you over.
Lisa continues in her recovery and now works with children who have had similar head injuries. Thanks to the fabulous doctors and nurses in the Southern General and the Royal Infirmary, she will celebrate her 21st birthday this year.

Steeley another point on this is we have seen and read the damage that is caused by idiots who do speed. Feck when people insurance goes up because they have had a speeding fine yet fail to see the consequences that this might have on others then have the cheek to moan at guys like us for infoming them of such things that the "faster you drive the more liely you are to be involved in an accident" some people just don't get it!!
As for you stance on drink driving I know that only too well! And I totally agree with you.

Do you think the beginning of Naz' failings as a boxer started when he dumped Brendan Ingle and Frank Warren?
I think Emanuel Stewart is great, but he didn't seem to put up with Naz' ego the way Ingle used to. Didn't Oscar Suarez do most of his training?
I know before Naz went with Suarez and Stewart, he didn't like running. This seemed unusual for a boxer. Ingle said on the News yesterday that during Hamed's time in prison, he may be able to get back to his previous fitness if he worked at it.
I always liked Hamed. I hope he can come back.

Thats what they said about David Hasselhoff after kNIGHT RIDER ended. Then he went onto have a successful recording career in Germany. Then came his finest role to date. Mitch Buchannon in Baywatch. Personally I always preffered his numerous co-stars better. Especially Gena Lee Nolan and Yasmin Bleeth.

Its not always speed that kills, my niece was killed when her friend lost concentration (her own words) she killed both rear seat passengers,
Her punishment? 6 points no ban and 200 pound fine.
The law concerning killing with a car is an ass.
If you run someone over whilst drunk and doing 120mph and leave the accident in an untaxed uninsured car, you get 5years.
Have 2 pints and get in a barney with some nutter who attacks you, you subsiquently push him over, he hits his head and dies,(as happened in our market place 10 years back) you get 7 years
as for speeding. the 70 mph on the motorway is not actually a safe limit it causes traffic to bunch and causes ill lane discipline. look how freely the traffic on an unristricted autobahn moves and how much space users give each other?

I think it is crazy that Hamed only gets 15 months for his crime . When you compare this to the case of the animal rights protesters who were imprisoned for over 10 years for digging up the grave, something doesn't seem fair . Hameds crime was worse. Money talks I think.
