i sometimes think that anyone using the internet should be forced to sit a "driving test" with the basic steps to internet use and security but even experts can get caught out

a mate of mine who was a software programmer for the RAF misstyped the name of a well know electrial retailers when he went to purchase a tv and instead of a new tv he got a £5k credit card bill

Well it is obviously bad. But atleast Julian' CC hasn't been used. He said so in his previous post. It could be worse, the company will be able to monitor its use. If he had left it and not posted this thread it may have been alot worse.

Don't worry mate. It is an easy mistake to make.  It just shows you look for the positive rather than the negative.

some people are more trusting than others and haven't dealt with the scumbags and scam merchants of this world (some of us have). Maybe he was a bit naive but I don't think Julian will have been the only one taken in by this tonight. Many people will have been taken in and will ring there credit card company to see if their money has gone in to find their cards ahve been maxed- online fraud is a groth industry and everyone should be aware of the risks.

Well done to Ironside and the gang for looking out for us all.

I know I feel safer now that I have read this thread. Sorry about you getting a kicking, mate, but at least you have your money - even if your dignity is a bit bruised.

Pokerroom was hacked the other week too, the hacker got into the chat program and also managed to get to some account details, not good.
They should (poker sites) be employing the same security measures as online banks.
