To answer an earlier question, ALL the money was paid to Mr De Silva.
It is simple - who had the most chips? Peter swears he did. But remember, we have not heard the other side of the story.

Sadly, Peter Heighway did not have more chips than the other guy and so has accepted his loss and taken it very well. I think neither of the two were quite sure what happened when such a situation occurred, and there were some temporarily crossed wires which gave him the wrong impression. I think Mr. Da Silva could have been clearer (it looked like he was agreeing to some kind of split) but fair's fair and the rule on this is clear. This in No Way detracts from Peter Heighway's impressive performance over here and I hope to follow him at other tournaments soon.

Peter definately had more chips.....
If that is proven correct then the wpt should hold their hands up and get it sorted.
I am pretty sure the wpt have always worked on more chips higher finish.
The players themselves need to sort deals and the terms but the wpt should pay according to their own terms.
On or off camera the whole table would have seen the count if it took place.

yeah, just reread it again, correct he says no deal but i don't understand the betfair reference?
does he mean that it isn't automatically shared on bf but might be different in the wpt?
either way i hope it's sorted

Peter Heighway down to just 11,000! But on his left is Carlos de Silva with 4,500...
Are you sure ?

I take the BF reference to mean that he assumed as he had more chips he would get 18th (as per online) but Carlos told him they would split. If he was told that and he had less chips, then it seems unfair as it would influence his decision on calling (unless he already had).

If he'd had more chips I don't understand why he would have called blind from the small blind with the short stack behind him...

sounds to me like a big cock up from the WPT , and the TD should have jumped on the band waggon when there was 2 people all in, and going for 18th place, they should know to chip count who has the most
Sack the dealer and the TD!!
Feel sorry for Peter, I think doing deals in poker is an artform and i've heard many people being shafted when a deal has been done
WPT should pay the man out of their huge rake they get for the tournament

Jen has already stated Peter was mistaken about the chip count and has accepted this.
Peter has also stated there was no deal and he misunderstood the payout terms.
A little confusion at a highly stressful time for a newish player on the higher stake scene.
Wpt can't take the blame for that.

Guys
Thanks for all your support, really appreciate. Have had great fun. Tired and early start so I wont go into much now. Just two points
the Imran hand- there was no one to act behind me and the 8 had already been dealt. I had called with AQ against his pocket tens and had not protected my hand properly, was playing up to the crowd in the excitement. I saw an Ace then squeezed the second card behind it. Got a warnign but what happened was fair and the lad took it well. I think my hand being dead would have been wrong.
Peter did have less but it really seemed like they had agrred to split. I thought they had. Shoudl be an inquest. Peter is a top guy and seems hard done by.
Thanks again to all

hi, just to set the record strraight...carlos and i didn't do a deal....curt put in the big raise....i called blind......carlos turned to me and said if he won the hand i was out, if i won the hand he was out, and if we both went out on this hand we would share the prize money...curt took us both out so we shared.....i had more chips so on bf this is differet i think.
need to have a few pints so will put up a report tomorrow. just to wish the english boys the best of luck...it was a pleasure playing with you both, bring it back home.
van gogh
I can see how confusion can arise from that but it can only serve as a lesson to people.
If you don't know where you stand, ask. Whether it's the rules or a deal you need to be clear at the vital moment.
Gotta feel sorry for him but inexperience has done him.

Henrik's post on the "Peter Affair" is spot on. Pity the dealer & the WPT if they got sacked ("sack them both"...!!!) before that happened........
Roland's post on the other affair also tidies it up.
Next case.
