Well I'm a bit gutted. A pure game of football wasted by a ref not playing the advantage.

Still as good as Lehman has been, he's prone to a rush of blood to the head. WTF was he doing in the first place? Same old Lehman, lets them down when needed most. I think he might have saved one or both of Barcas goals.

Big up to Sol. I'm glad he's in the world cup squad.

Henry wont be off to Barca after the way they kicked him about - that's for sure.

Anyway I'll let you small clubs have your fun with each other about who will and wont get to european finals and win them! Wink

Well I hope we get you in the group stage next year!!

Behave Rod! I know your club are a big club. You've WON the European Cup! Wink

Is this a sick joke, Baron?

No. He wont start but I'm glad he's there. He has passion unlike that idiot Rio.

Sorry Div - you've got 2 different things mixed up. A defender handling the ball, but it goes in means he hasn't denied a goal scoring opportunity. Lehman denies Eto'o a clear goal scoring opportunity. The fact that the ball ran on to another player, giving him an opportunity is irrelevant.

Rod, the ref seems to agree with me:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/4993994.stm

The incident last night happened so quickly that I don't see how you can discriminate between Lehmann tackling Eto'o and Giuly scoring. It all happened so quickly there was a clear advantage gained by Barcelona - as Mr Hauge seems to now accept.

I'll refer you to Stuart Dougal if you start quoting the ref as backup Wink

The foul denied Eto'o a clear goalscoring opportunity. Even if the ref had allowed the goal I think Lehmann had to go.

I double checked the FIFA Q&A on the laws of football.

They don't explicitly cover this scenario, but they do cover the handball from the defender on the line...

The ruling is, if he keeps it out, he gets a red, if it still goes in, he gets a yellow.

So, applying that principle last night, the ref should have awarded a goal and a yellow card.

But what about the other handball scenario - if he kept it out, and someone else put away the rebound - i think it would be red then, which is closer to the situation last night.

the offence was still committed.

That's not covered either, but I suspect we might be into 'phases of play' at that point!

About 7 years backa s part of my studies I took the referees exam and passed it, not that it means much but for me the decisionw as a goal for Barca and a yellow card for Lehman - he never stopped a goal scoring opportunity because they stills cored.  The ref bottled it.

Anyway bring on the ebst they can offer next year, I fancy a trip to Spain, Portugal and France.  And I'll take a Dutch team in stage 2!

As for Nemesis and Kev's laughs etc - i shall just ignore it.  I find it a bit small minded but our failures is all they have to cling on to.  I dont rise to it - how can i after a witnessed such a proud achievement!

This reply is not aimed directly at you, It is a general reply to all my friends who are afflicted with the misfortune of supporting the @rse.

Look at all the posts and comments on the forum when Spurs lost to west ham .... plenty of @rse fans had a pop, and I ignored their jibes .  (it wasnt easy ..i can promise you that)

I took great pleasure in last nights result, well thats not strictly true, I WAS ECSTATIC about last nights result.
The fact that Wenger cried like a bitch and Henry looked to blame anyone rather than accept that he missed more chances in that game than he has in the premiership for the last few seasons (sums up the mans arrogance.) made it even more satisfying.

Lets clear a few things up, Barcelona have more reason to be aggrieved at the ref than @rse, They should have been 1-0 up and the free kick that led directly to @rse's goal was a blatant dive... thats FACT !!

YES I have gloated, YES I took pleasure in it, YES I laughed loud and hearty.... AND guess what, the reaction from the players and fans of that shower just makes me laugh longer, louder and gives me a warm and satisfying glow.

Now you as a club have to re group, move into your state of the art new stadium and contemplate life without Thierry Henry.....  Oh yes.. and i suppose the biggest thing your club needs to do is LEARN TO ACCEPT DEFEAT WITH DIGNITY !!!
I look forward to next season already ... and I for one hope that the @rse/Spurs rivalry goes right to the last day of next season too...

Have a nice day and enjoy all the news bulletins and newspaper articles today.

Lots of love

Kev.

Well ive not been back that long from paris. We had a great time and watching my club in a champions league final is something that i will never forget, the experience of the last 2 days is worth listening to the piss take. if spurs fans can take the piss about us losing a EUROPEAN CUP FINAL just remember that at least we were there.

kev about the 2 points i highlighted in your post. Firstly, yes i have taken the piss about you inabilties to beat west ham and that we finished above you in the league. I took the piss and put a few posts on here about it. the reason i did this is because for the last 2-3 months all you have gone on about is finishing higher than us. you or nem have started several threads, i think at least 6, about when arsenal lose or even when we concede a goal.
i remember off the top of my head "lua lua superstar" "arsene wenger is a disgrace" one about when we were losing at old trafford. How many threads did i start when spurs lost or conceded a goal??? NONE. i saved taking the piss until the end of the season when we had done the job and secured champions league football once again.

Secondly, "learn to accept defeat with dignity" even you must be taking the piss when you said this. how can the fan of a team who appealed for a game to be replayed when they lost it fair and square make this comment???

at the end of the day we made the champions league final, something that spurs have never and will never do and looking on the bright side at least we can have ago again next season.

enjoy the UEFA cup i heard all the top players want to play in that.

ps Skippy im not sure what your problem is but west hams fans opinions count less than kevs.

Have to agree with Dan here    And also with Nakor's excellent earlier post.

I think it's best not to allow one's angst and frustration to overcome one's class.

Get a grip man, we won't even be this bad if/when you fellas get knocked oot the World Cup.

How prolonged a rubdown do you need to dish out? I think your point has been made and you've started to go over to the bad place.
