You have raised with a raggy ace, flopped top 2 and just moved in!! Yes i would say you were too aggresive,

As soon as that ace fell i doubt you were getting any action anyway.

I had done the same thing to him 2 rounds before, that time i had 7 4 and completely missed the flop - and showed Wink

Was trying to get a double up on him.

Ignoring that then, what you you do on the flop? Week bet? Check?

Well give him a chance to make a move then! Weak lead him and he may pop without the ace. Move in and he can only call AK/AQ and they pay you off anywa.

Really, you don't think a weaker hand would have paid him off here?

I'm not good enough to play in the $200 but i woulda done the same thing. The pot is half of M3boy's stack (i would be happy with that) and his opponent might have called.

Agreed - but the board was a little scary. I am always wary when hitting 2 pair with the cards so close together. I mean, he could have KQ/Kj - turn comes Q or J and now I am in trouble.

Like the title suggests, I know it was too aggressive.

Still, not bad though for a tourney of 700+ runners lasting approx 7 hours - and only having 2 hands where I am not sure I played them correctly.

Yeah its not the best board, paint comes and u are in trouble, but is he likely to have called a raise with QJ JK? He might have but more likely a smaller pair, thats why i weak lead, like i have KK-JJ and hate the ace

I like playing two pair (even top 2) aggressively but I had thought this was a situation where you could have slowed (although I don't like raises with AT pre).

I was reading this and thinking that yes it was far too aggressive. however then I read your comment about having made the same move on him two rounds previously and showing the bluff. I am not a big fan of showing bluffs, but this is one of the positive reasons for doing so (providing that it is infrequent). I think that piece of information makes this an excellent move and if he had a hand like AQ or possibly AJ, you would have got paid off.

Do you not think AQ/AJ pay him off anyway?

Raising AT, normally i say no, but i know M3 is capable of getting away if he is beat post flop so its not so bad, he is playing it for the blinds or a blank board. This i guess is why when he got top 2 he pushed, sometimes when i am preparing to make a bluff after being called pre flop, but then smack the flop i fire too much, bit of excitement!

Would you?

Not sure I would call an all in with AJ. Possibly AQ sometimes although again I don't like calling here. I would of course lead out with either of them, but then if I wasn't prepared to do that no point playing them at all pre - what kind of flop would you want to bet at if not an ace high rainbow? Tbh with AQ I would probably have reaised (and maybe pushed) preflop if I was going to take on a raise with it at all.

Spot on James, I am raising to take the blinds, I dont want a call!

And yes, when I hit the flop so hard, excitement took over and it was "all in"
