A couple of things led me to start thinking about Substitutes in poker....the Nations Cup recently broadcast consists of teams of 6 and a captain would regularly substitute players for teammates at times he considered appropriate. Also the other night a few of us were discussing the following:

You've played solidly for hour upon hour in a major tournament and you are down to the final two tables with above average chips...you'd really like to push on and win the thing and not just creep into 7th

You could back yourself to do this or you could call on a supersub of your choice to play the tournament through to its conclusion for 33% of your winnings if its a top 3 finish only. If supersub finishes outside the top 3 the winnings are yours

What would you do, and who might you call on?

I think this probably happens a lot online.... I call on someone to get me the chips then sub myself in to bring it home!

personally i would call on a sub to get me to the final 3 or 4 then sub myself in as i fancy myself short handed

i would proberly call on someone like the camel or JP to get me into the top 4 though

Hmmm good one.

Ivey would be handy.  I'll go for Doyle.  Been watching him play on High Stakes Poker, class act.

You've grinded away for hours, then you're going to let someone else have all the fun?

No ta.

If you've made it that far, it's not on giving the rest of the game away.  I'd feel like I'd not achieved it if we won.  I'd take it down myself.

I think they HAD to sub players in the nations cup, as for who can finish off a tourny, i'd have flushy online cuz he is one of those sh*t or bust players who wins more than he comes 3rd in.
As for live..............really don't know, i think i'd play on, the closer to the win live the more p**sed i am and therefore more aggressive, served me well Cheesy

Do you think if Bill Gates got laid in high school, do you think there'd be a Microsoft?
Of course not.
