Ok, heres the situation - your hole cards are soemthing like  two spades or  and someone raises you before the flop by 4x 5x 6x the big blind....you look at your hand and know your behind at this point...so you fold but someone else calls only for the flop to give you a straight or full house...you kick yourself for folding the hand in the first place but was it a good fold? if someone raises and you dont really have the chips to call then is this a good fold with unlucky flop? i get very frustrated at this point but still think to myself that i was right to do so....if i had plenty of chips to play with then i might consider a look at the flop tho...

thoughts please?

If some bugger raises, and that raise consists of much more than 5% of your stack, it's usually incorrect to call with pisch.

If your opponent is the type who bluffs too much and/or can't lay down a hand, be more inclined to make these loose pre-flop calls.

There's a good discussion of playing junk somewhere around here. Maybe someone with a better memory of that thread can provide a link.

You can win big cash game pots with these hands, you can also fritter away an evening, and a few buy-ins, seeing flops.

If you think you are behind, and you dont have enough chips to call and play the flop to take advantage of the implied odds, well then if you want to play the hand re-raise all in!!

They are obviously good folds.

Occasionally even 72o flops a full house or quads.

Whilst its true any 2 cards can win they dont win often enough to make playing them profitable.    I read that somewhere. I will play any hand but always look for reasons other than my actual cards as to wether to continue. Also if this is online then because of the rng if you called then the flop would have been different. Always helps me to remember that!

i see it like this if i hold 77 in mid pos and there is a raise from early on and a call and i pass for the flop to caome 77A player a moves all in and player b calls only to show KK and AA i still made the right move. to start with so can't moan because i have to play the odds game.

ps. not that i ever fold 77 i always re-raise all in so if you see me at the table doing this please feel free to call   Wink

If your playing the odds game then presumably from mid position you'd wecome an extra call befre you with a medium pocket pair?
