I think it's a pi$$take and i'm offended by it as it could make my 5 year old paranoid about spelling mistakes

Where is it?   Draw me a map, so I can find it please?

When you make a Post Sark - go on, try it now - at the bottom where the "SEND" & "PREVIEW" Buttons are there is now a "SPELL-CHECKER" Button too.

No expense spared.

holy canolis...

Luckily, nobody is forced to use the Spell-Checker facility.

But many will welcome it, most especially all those who asked us to install it.

I love it, I used to have to open word and copy stuff to there.

Something else has surprised me, because I check my spelling (most of the time) I'm actually learning to spell.

IFM,

i think that when the management decide on certain forum changes,  the emotional stress it might potentially cause to a 5yr old child isn't going to be high on the list of things that they consider... although I might well be wrong about this

However, in light of this emotional outburst, maybe next time Tikay wants to make an amendment to the forum, he should go to his local primary school and take a poll to see if the changes will be welcomed or not.. that way we can all be safe in the knowledge that 5 year olds who might potentially stumble on a poker forum wont be unduly distressed

Not wishing to mock ifm, I believe he certainly has a case.

I think his concern is that the presence of a spell checker will make it appear to posters that they are now expected to check their spelling, when there was a previous consensus that this was clearly not the case on blonde.

He may also be concerned that it may change the attitudes of those pretentious enough to insist upon proper spelling from all. They had previosuly been stifled, but now that corrrecting ones spelling has become easier, he may be worried that such poo pooing of peoples letterage may return.

The misspellings will drop in number, and therefore when errors do occur, they will stick out more poignantly. By exercising his right not to use such a facility, he may be anxious that he, and others who don't wish to use it, will be mocked because they are now fewer in number.

Speaking as one of the aforementioned pretentious types, you can have my word that I will never instruct anyone to use said facility if they choose not to. If anyone does, and I'm feeling so inclined, I won't hesitate to jump all over them for suggesting such a thing.

Personally I think the spell check feature is a good thing, and will save many people time. After thinking about it for a while, I am sympathetic to the concerns of any who believe otherwise (and their 5 year olds.)

As some will know criticising people for spelling or grammar is a pet hate of mine, the original post however was a joke.
Then nem decided that swearing at me and asking if i was pissed was appropriate (another whoosh methinks).
You are right Tank, that's what i think will happen, i asked Nem if he would like to pay me £10 for every instance of someone mentioning spelling now there is a spellcheck, he wisely declined.

Tomorrow I resolve to make no serious posts whatsoever (unless they are directly related to poker.)

I'm so far up my own ass today it's unreal.
