Don't you think a team like Argentina or Brazil would make mince meat of the England defence?

Yes I do. Campbell was shocking.

A bit harsh to blame Campbell for coming into a game where the defense had looked dodgy from the start.

The defence looked fine until Ferdinand was injured. Coincidence?

Yes Campbell made some good blocks but that doesn't mean he had a good game. I've seen Boumsong make good blocks!

Sweden had already scored from a corner and hit the bar from set pieces before Cambell came on.

The defence certainly did not "look fine until Cambell came on" imo

If you read what I said you will see your post is in error.

Ferdinand was injured at least a few minutes before he went off, possibly more than a few.

Well actually I would say that you are wrong Baron.

England looked decidedly shaky tonight every time Sweden had a corner or free kick  in the first half. And I don't think Rio was injured then, seeing as how he came out for the second half when the defense looked just as shaky from set pieces.

I would not say that the England defense looked shakier in the second half than the first, in fact very little in it imo.

Fair enough Karabiner - that's your view. Campbell's never had a bad game in his life eh? Wink

In the first half I thought England were totally unconcerned at the back (mainly due to Sweden's poor 1st half I admit) and in the second half they were poor, moreso after the Ferdinand injury.

Owen 3

Baron that is very harsh, especially as he was only on the pitch for 79 seconds.

Were you not watching all those corners that had the England defense in a flap in the first half ?

The ones that didn't go in? Unlike the ones in the second half that did?

Put it anyway you like - Campbell was pants. Rio and Terry weren't amazing but Campbell was still pants.

When Rio came off:

"Well that HAS to be an injury - there's no way Sven would change his back four after Terry and Ferinand have played so well. The Defence has been pretty solid so far."

"Yeah it has."

Tell you what I'll admit Crouch was rubbish if you try to say a bad word about an Arsenal player? Cheesy
