Poker and relationships finding the right mix.

On Friday past rodparadise was good enough to lend me his tablet laptop, and since this very kind gesture, my wife and seem to have found a strange balance. When I say strange I mean in the best way possible, for example, i am no longer being nagged for hogging the lappy, I join her in bed at the same time ( as we have wireless, rods lappy comes to bed with me lol ), now ordinarily things would be a little more off kilter, I would be in the sitting room till early in the morning, sometimes falling asleep on the couch with lappy on knee. I'm sure there are a few night owls who have similar tales of woe.
Now if you cannot tell thus far I find it difficult to leave a juicy cash game, in the dead of night where people will tilt and throw their money away, and alas fatigue often sets in and I become one of the money losing mugs I am describing.
Since Friday however, I have found a new focus, when playing in games however, As my wife lays snoring beside me, i am playing my MTT's and cash games without distraction from the TV or the nagging thought in the back of my mind "I better get to be soon or she's gonna flip again". You may find this strange but the difference having a wireless computer makes to your personal life is amazing, I don't even get as much grief for going to cincins!!
As it turns out I have wanted to get a wireless lappy for a while, This weekend only serves as an incentive. I would never have thought it would bring about as much change and additional harmony to the relationship we have as husband and wife. On the whole poker and relationships are a little like oil and water, they don't mix well but if you shake it hard enough or add an enzyme you may just get mix you are looking for.
So as you can may well imagine, I am typing away from my bed here, whilst playing a tourney and sitting about average with no distractions, and no nagging tilt feeling to get me off my game, and I know I'm in the good books as, the better half got her back rubbed and scratched before nodding off.
I suppose what I'm trying to get at is this, sometimes to get things to balance, it only takes something small to make the big difference.
OK Enough of my ramblings.
regards
Billy

Yes I can relate to this....Wireless was a great change allowing me to play in the lounge with the family rather than dissappearing into the study.
I still get a bit of flack at times for how long and how often I play but at least I'm not seen by wife and child as a remote relative who appears for their evening meal and then disappears off mumbling incoherently about bad beats or 20 seconds left to the next MTT!
Of course that means that I have to put up with crap on the telly, and am around to be asked to do 'odd jobs' and be moaned at about what ever I have or haven't done and asked to play Barbie or Harry Potter games and can I take the rubbish out/change a light bulb/move the car/whatever arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh.
OK on second thoughts.....anyone want to buy a second hand laptop with wifi capability???

Alternatively, find someone addicted to poker as much as you are
The only thing we disagree about, is who gets the really comfy chair lol

I think I need a wireless laptop, the missus is always giving me earache for playing poker late at night.
Mind you, it's often play poker or watch Big Brother - not the hardest choice in the world.
