Christiano Ronaldo/Wayne Rooney and football a beautiful game?

Between him and Wayne Rooney everything that is wrong with Professional football is encapsulated..
Both have terrific talent, both are lousy characters
Rooney has a terrible temperament and deserved to get sent off. Short of a few million brain cells and generally a complete numpty. Mentally that is.
BUT, Ronaldo goaded the referee into sending him off (a correct decision but nonetheless still inexcusable to do so) and then when he had succeeded he turned to his bench and winked.
Add to this all the examples from various players of diving and playacting (rolling around and then getting up when the ball goes out of play) and you have a game that it is becoming more and more difficult to enjoy for me personally.

I'm sure if Ronaldo offers, they will make up.

sorry but am i the only person that thinks wayne rooney was unlucky to even have gotten a yellow card let alone a red
he stepped on a player whose legs were wrapped around waynes stepping on him was un avoidable
he raised his hands to ronaldo and that is problery a bookable offense but that wasnt what he was sent off for

Can't help but agree . What the hell was Rooney doing? Ronaldo is a cheat tho. As we have seen this throughout the WC and beyond players are willing to do what is necessary to influence the ref . Football is a contact sport and the players are doing themselves a disservice by going to ground every 2 mins . FIFA does itself nofavours by making the game more and more convaluted and the ref's job harder and harder. Foottball has changed much for the worse and it keeps on deteriorating.
Strong leadership is required at the very top level and that clearly is not going to happen anytime soon . Goodbye the beautiful game............

If he's gonna get sent off he should have broken the cheating pr!ck's jaw instead of that girly little push.

I'm sure he'll have a chance in training next season...

Rooney stamped on the defenders testicles, a definite red card.
However, the ref NEVER SAW the stamp, instead, he sent Rooney off for PUSHING Ronaldo.
That is what will be in his report.

If the ref saw the stamp fair enough (and it did happen within a yard of him), even if he didn't the silly bugger deserved the sending-off.
I too am very interested in what the ref gives as his reason. Can't believe it was that push as he'd allowed similar earlier to go unpunished and generally had a good game imo.

Agreed - the ref was taking no action until the push, the replays showed this.
I've already heard from 3 United fans giving abuse about Ronaldo.

I thought the ref was average at best. Terry's yellow card was an absolute joke.
