come on guys, whats up with winking.
How do you know that Big Phil didnt signal to Ronaldo to up the tempo and push forward more since england were down to 10 men, and Ronaldo just signalled back (with a wink) saying "No problem boss"
The bottom line is, if you stanp in someones balls, you deserve to be sent off, i also dont think it helped his case to push Ronaldo away right in front of the refs face.
Rooney is an outstanding player and could be one of the worlds greats, but he first has to grow up, and learn to screw the nut, What Tighty said yesterday about him and his age / mentality was spot on.

So it was Ronaldo's fault that England were inept in all 5 games of the world cup? Was it Ronaldo's fault that England's manager had the tactical awareness of a sleeping sloth (apologies to any sloth's reading this post who may take offence)
No it wasn't. England actually looked and played better after Rooney got sent off - maybe Ronaldo did them a favour, they may have won the game in 90 minutes had England kept 11 players on the pitch..........

I personally think this vendetta against Ronaldo is a bit OTT, He wasnt waveing imagionary cards which i bloody hate, And like Dave says no one knows what that wink was all about.
Yes I dont like his reaction but it aint worth all this over hype IMO

It's a sport, there was a bit of gamesmanship, Ronaldo perhaps exposing a weak spot in his counterpart, his fiery young temper.
Reading the papers today, I find the prospect that they can no longer play on the same team completely ridiculous.
One perhaps played the other like a two dollar banjo. Hopefully Roonie can learn from this and go on to greater things.

Crikey, lets hang him. His team mate was stamped on and he had something to say about it!
Has no-one on this board ever played a competitive team sport?!?!
As for the wink, evreytime a player gets sent off the opposing team always cheer, or congratulate the ref, etc. This is far worse IMO.
Teams are happy when they get penaltys, i suppose that is bad aswell?

The "friendly" headbutt and word in his ear before kick-off shows it was a plan to get him sent off IMO.

Baron the truth is we don't know what that was about before the game started. I can't see Portugal plotted to get Rooney sent off, if this was the case they would have been smacking him about. The 2 clearly know eachother well and are team mates, a little push before the game has started is almost certainley just competitive banter. They know they are both carrying the expectations of thier country as the top players from each team, i find it far more likely it was friendly.

Even now knowing he is leaving Man Utd? Amazing how he only comfirmed this after the game two days after Ferguson issues a denial!
