53 Card Deck Alert:

One table had their deck fully fanned out face up when I walked by, and a bemused set of players and dealer were looking at the two which had been being used for half an hour!  "New set-up!"  One player remarked (jokingly, thank goodness) "I want my money back," while the others all laughed at him.  Play continues, with standard (52 card) deck.

I once saw two people turn over a Queen high flush at the Gala.

And does anyone ever remember that time in Blackpool when they found out they'd been playing with several extra cards?

Sry to torture you with my holiday snaps, especially considering some of you have just risen (a Snoopy in the morning isn't what you want to see), but here's me in front of a big golden nugget. Very exciting, I'm sure you'll agree. Just look at how happy I am!  Cheesy  dad dont dance

They're in the Money!  In case that crucial bit of information somehow didn't filter down to you...

But when we question Bhupinder, it's all about the top finish...he's on average chips with 20k, but knows that the first level they'll play tomorrow will be 600/1,200 with a 200 ante, and having just been playing 400/800 ante 100 that's the biggest jump so far.  So I may go back and hover over his table and see if he capitalises on his tight image.

Michael Mizrachi was on 18,600 until he completely ruined my chip counting by playing a hand (how selfish, huh?).

On a flop of three clubs

Mateyboy called all-in with , but failed to outdraw 'The Grinder's'

Turn = , River =

A dealer came up to me and said, "See how nervous he was then, he cowered away from the table when the turn and river were being dealt."

... which was true, it reminded me of when I was a kid and could see the ball I kicked sailing towards the lounge window. eek.

To be honest, I think Mizrachi's got too much money to be nervous.

Anyhow, the Queen stood up and 'The Grinder' added several more thousand to that 18k.

Also still in are Irish contingent Donnacha O'Dea (with a rather dangerous 7k) as well as Padraig Parkinson.  They're supported by these sorts of railbirds:

Three Europeans still left in, Rob Hollink, Padraig Parkinson and Bhupinder Kohli.

As you can probably tell from the snaps, we're down to 15 tables and below, thereby resulting in moi and my update colleague being forced onto the rail.

Play has just come to end, which means it's time to stack em, count em and bag em.

Time for us to wave bye bye.

Not a great showing from the Brits, or the Europeans as a whole for that matter, but we'll be keeping a keen on Bhupinder Kohli and crossing fingers that he'll make that final. Who wants to see another all American final, huh? Well, except for 300 million Americans of course...

We'll try and get those chip counts up for you before the start of tomorrow's play, which will be at 2pm (Vegas time) - an early rise for you chaps back in England, but it'd be great to have you come along for the ride.

nighty night, folks.

Yes, it's running, on a separate, new, thread
