It's just wonderful news, I am struggling to think of a nicer guy in Poker. And he was a shade unlucky against Brian last year, so this one was due.

Wow - he sure put a few bad beats on people to get there!  Anyway, well done John.

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

John is simply one of the sweetest guys you could ever meet. As for putting a few beats on others? Lets just say that John likes to mix it up a fair bit by raising with any two cards from any position. This makes him a very dangerous and gutsy player. In fact, he was my first choice to win an event this year as he always has a chance to accumilate chips with his style of play. Nice one John!

I'm not criticising, to win any large tournament you will have to deal a few bad beats where you got the money in and thought you had the best hand but didnt.
Its just amusing the reaction from the twoplustwo forumers who got knocked out by John Wink

Yes, an awesome result for JG. I have to actually concur, the first 40 minutes of this table saw some of the most incredible beats, not just  JG. One in particular got such a loud reaction from the crowd, I am sure it could have been heard a mile away! Basically a player was all in (pretty sure it was JG although I stand to be corrected), He had AK, matey boy had 88, flop A8x, turn Ace, river King. We could have seen four exits within that period, literally, but the river saving the underdog on all occassions. Certainly a lively table. Live poker, its rigged I tell 'ya.
