Last year's second place finisher, Steve Dannenmann (boy, I hate writing that name) has 21,100 after fold on a flop of Two Diamonds

He bet 1.5k and passed to the 4.4k reraise.

Nick 'Gwibbo' Gibson, cheerful as ever despite having been ill and room-bound for the couple of days preceding today.  We have a theory that the Europeans are suffering particularly due to the extremes of temperature over here.  And the air-con which might be circulating germs (I have a fairly sore throat and stuff, myself).  He wanted to know where his anti-panda-eye eye cream which he presented me with in MC was...I can only guess how I look today.

Nick's tablemate Ben 'Milkybarkid' Grundy, who says it's all about the slow patient wait as people seem "keen to pay you off if you hit."  He added, "I've given myself some rules today."  Things like, "No playing A10 or worse."  It looks like he needs to restrict himself to halt the looseness spawned from boredom/frustration.  That's where the two-hour levels come in - there's no need to succumb to such things when you can legitimately use the Force of Patience.  He's on 20,000.

It's certainly got to me - it's the air conditioning (particularly the circulated air on the flight over). I've spent all of today holed up in my hotel room trying to get over a chest infection. I'm trying to kill it with pizza and ersatz champagne.

And why is it that when there are hundreds of tables, we often seem to get two we know on the same one?  As I was snapping Joe Beevers, Henning Granstad took his table's empty seat. saying, "I'm a shortstack..."  True - 8,600 isn't a lot, but it might be fun to go and watch that one some more.  Like the cameraman standing behind the unwitting Mr. Granstad.

Good plan, sir!
