Saw this guy wandering between the tables - Azzy Asghar, another one of those press/player types.  He informed me that he'd actually played this Day One, and busted with a fairly unpleasant JJ vs. 77 (which four-flushed to send him packing).  He didn't seem at all disheartened, in fact heading right back between the tables with his press pass to keep an eye on the action.  Personally, I would have been on the New York New York rollercoaster five or six times by this point, and be heading to a bar.  But no, he's happy to still be in the Rio - "You win some, you lose some - it wasn't my day."

Brian Wilson is struggling with 11k.

"Can't catch anything"

Meanwhile, Nottingham Nick is running okay with 23k

About turn for Nick Gibson - well, just some slight damage, actually - just saw him playing a button-holding Matey on a board of Two Clubs .  Check, Matey bets what looks like a couple of thousand.  Call from Nick.
River:    Nick checks, Matey moves in for his last 5,550 exactly (pot size around 4k).  A quick call from Nick.

Matey shows the clearly unexpected , and Nick mucks - he's down to around 17,000.

Definitely the mullet, although Brian would win the "Fashion Violator of the Day" prize.  George Danzer told us that he'd seen a picture of himself on another blog, with that title!  I think it was his scarf and headphones combo, although to be honest there are lots of worse Fashion Violators in the room.  Still not sure how I'd feel about being given that award...

Other counts from people I didn't notice the first time round (check the brutal honesty - my eyes aren't what they used to be):

David Lloyd      8,000
Richard Gryko   24,200

Neil 'Bad Beat' Channing is currently on 8,775

He retold a hand in which he called a button raise from the blind with Q-J suited.

The three players involved checked the J-J-9 flop.

Mateyboy in earliy (ish) position bets 1.3k on the Ten turn and the button (original raiser) makes it 4k.

Neil decides to fold his trip Jacks, the button shows K-Q for the straight.

Here's Richard Gryko in ipod world - he certainly has a lot of small-denomination chips, hinting at some steal-tastic early raising.
