Did I play this right

Went out of a live tourny at the weekend with this hand and was a bit gutted that I even played the hand and I'm not really sure if I played it correctly

its a 10k, 7 handed tourny with 35 players, down the the last 16 or 17, top 5 get paid!!!

blinds are 800/400 and theres an ante of 150- table is 6 handed at this point 3 tables remaining,

I'm in the BB with 14300 plus already posted my BB and ante- I'm Dealt  then a guy from mid position who has around 20k in chips raises to 2.5k in chips, a guy on the button calls then its folded to me

I dont take too long- I just work out whats in the pot first- 7100 chips, and see its basically half my stack- I dont put the guy from late position on much- he's been playing so loose and calling with anything- he's just wantin to see a flop I think- but I am worried he may have one of my outs with a raggy ace or KQ or something,

But I decided to go all in thinking I could maybe pick up the pot of 7100 and even if i do get called I will still be in an ok spot, unless I'm up against AA or KK. I'm sure the guy in mid position has JJ tho, but hoping maybe AQ; he has been playing quite tight so I'm sure he has something but just hoping he's good enough to fold a lower PP. He dwells for ages the finally calls- as expected the guy from late position folds and mid position initial raiser turns over  , the guy from late position mentions he had a lower pocket pair and I'm thinking I'm in good shape as he didnt have any of my outs,

the flop comes a low rainbow and I'm out. Did I play it correctly tho? was gutted top be out but I just dont see me folding here-I wish I did in hindsight as I basically put my tournament lifleine on a 50/50, but I just though I could make him fold and take the pot there- I dont blame the call tho, it was a good call

If I had won the pot I woulda been on around 33k which is almost a final table average so I also took that into consideration.

Other options were to call(bad move IMO) but if I hit an ace or king- he aint going to pay me anymore- if I miss I'm in a terrible spot as I'm out of position, even if he has AQ he's gonna get the chance to bet if I check the flop

I think perhaps it's one of those either/or situations where it's right to make the play you did and right to fold.
You pretty much read the situation as it was.
Myself, I probably would of folded, going with the old line of "I'm either a small fav or a big dog", while taking into account my tourney life. But then I often make rocks look loose in tourneys.
As you mentioned you had fold equity and if you won the pot were sitting very comfortably.

I'd agree, you could have got away from the pot and it wouldn't have been bad playing. Staying in the pot, I agree with the all-in move and this wasn't bad either.

This was very much one of those situations where there isn't so much a right or wrong way to do it, it just depends on your particular playing style.

And of course if you had hit a hand after he'd called then you'd have been in a very healthy position heading towards the final table.

if you are sure he has JJ then no you played it almost as badly as you could have done (the only worse thing would be folding)

If you happen to have lost your x-ray vision and just have to put him on a standard raising range then the re-raise is the right play. Make it 9k to go, looks a bit stronger than the all in push and it leaves you an extra bullet to fire on the flop if you are called.

I think the 3rd player in the pot could make this interesting.

If raiser has AQ and misses then he has to bet into 2 players - 1 who is acting after him. Not quite as a continuation bet into 1 caller who is OOP.

If he has JJ and an A or K comes then yes he probably won't pay you off, but if hes AQ and you hit the A he might.

Also the 3rd guy might pay you off if he has KQ and hits the K, or Ax and hits an A.

I'd probably go with flushy's reraise though.

thanks for the advice- I wasnt that sure how to play it but I'll take what you say flushy into consideration in the future-I did think about making about 8 or 9K but then I'd be left with a very short stack and woulda felt pot commited anyway-I'm pretty sure he woulda called or reraised me in anyway if I had done what you say, then with me out of position if I didnt hit- is it not only 30 % chance or something to hit one of these outs on the flop?? so I felt that the all in was the stronger play against this particular player

Well it comes down to player dependant, when i see an all in move it always looks weaker to me than a raise of 60-70% of your stack, that tells me you want a call (in reality they are the same as you are never passing anyway) the thing is AK seems to be a push for a lot of people and so if i was sat there with JJ i would feel more confident you had AK than QQ-AA.

If he calls the flop doesn't matter, you are pushing it anyway, you say you would feel pot committed, thats the idea he knows he cant get you off the hand (in the same way as moving in) but it just looks like you want a call more. There are also situations where you will be called and he will fold the flop, its unlikely but it does happen, and a chance to win that kinda sized pot without a showdown is a HUGE bonus.
