I had to get an Emergency appointment today for the dentist as I was in agony with toothache.
my gripe is the fact that it cost me a £130 for an appointment, two filllings and an x-ray. I mean, I pay my taxes, national insurance etc contribute to my pension and there are indivduals out there who are work shy, haven't done a days work in their life and yet get everything paid for by mugs like us who work for a living.
Whats the point in paying into a system and getting nothing in return? I mean the last time I actually seen a doctor was about 3 years back, even when I am ill I tend not to go to the doctors unless it seems serious.
It really, really annoys me how junkies and alcoholics get everything for nothing. I listen to these same people complain about refugees and asylum seekers and I think these people coming into the country would probably work if given the opportunity.
To make matters worse I had to borrow the money from my old dear, as I'm a bit skint with pay-day a week away. I am pig sick of the hand outs I other people get.
I spoke with someone last week in the casino, who is related to a well off film director and won't take a hand out from this director but will happilly apply for a crisis loan from the social and the first place he went to with it was the casino ........... that really annoyed me.
Anyone else sick off this sort of stuff in general?

Absolutely sick of it. We are ripped off left, right and centre in the UK for things that we supposedly pay for in income tax and NI.
I now have a private dentist and dental insurance. My dentist no longer accepts NHS patients, she, quite honestly, told me they are not worth enough to her. Fair enough, everybody has to make a living & the government just don't pay them enough to treat people on the NHS.
You get what you pay for sadly, even with health care, despite the system.
Don't get me started on the farce that is my local GPs and nearby hospitals. Grrrr!

Hi Bandit,
don't know if you've got anything similar up where you are, but I know a few people down here in London that get all their dental treatment done at a teaching hospital. It's free of charge, and you will obviously be getting the work done by a student rather than a qualified dentist, but all their work is supervised and checked by a qualified dentist. Not much help to you now, I know, but maybe something to think about in the future.
I'm in dire need of going to the dentist - haven't been for a couple of years (got a load of treatment done after my daughter was born and it was still free). The biggest problem for me at the moment is not the cost, but not being able to find an NHS dentist where I live. To me, being able to actually receive the treatment on the NHS should not be a luxury.
On the plus side, I understand that all NHS dental bills are now capped at something like £160 odd, which is a lot better than the situation a few years ago (I was quoted £300 for root canal treatment with a 50% success rate a few years back)

You had better avoid the Glesga Dental school though bandit, it's close to being closed down because the standard of teaching is so very poor.

Drives me insane glasgow.
I was sat playing a little blackjack waiting for a comp to start a couple of weeks ago when the guy to my left starts telling his mates standing behind him how he is claiming/scamming this and that from the dss and how he hasn't worked in 8 years and he says it's a doddle, he also said anyone not doing it is a mug.
I'm playing £2 on one box and this twat is playing £10 on 2 boxes.
I felt so angry i had to go outside for a bit of air.

I forgot to thank you for that, much appreciated and shows how kind and helpful people here on blonde. Restores my faith in people sometimes.
Anyhow, I haven't had a chance to look at it yet as I managed to find an episode on youtub that i've been watching avidly.
I'm worries about spyware, viruses and such crap. Should this be a concern for using torrents?

Not really, if you use what i said you won't have any probs. Always read the comments on the torrents you wish to download as if it is tainted in anyway someone will usually put up a big danger message.
I imagine you can vet torrents more thoroughly but i wouldn't know how. Maybe some tech types will enlighten us.
I've dowloaded a lot of torrents and never had a single problem with viruses etc.

My dentist is a kinder Egg dentist. He bought one for his younger Brother as a child and discovered a piece of paper inside telling him he was now a qualified dentist. It is the only explanation I have over how awful the bloke is. Unfortunately I am stuck with him as the waiting lists are too high everywhere else.
I like the look of Polish Dental holidays.

I just don't get this country...In Holland the dentist was free when I was young and everyone could go once every 6 months for their check ups and all that sort of good stuff (Of course you need to pay National insurance) everything that came out of that ...like cavities needing filled was free aswell. Later on they started brining in charges (much to the dismay of the Dutch people) but atleast everyone in Holland can go to the dentist when they need to.
It is pathetic how this country is being run when it comes to things like the NHS (not a bad system in itsself but civil servants running it is not a good idea).
I have no opinion on the DSS thing as i think people should be forced into work...plenty of jobs out there so unless you have a very good excuse you shouldn't get any money at all.

although Im reluctant to get involved in what could become a serious political debate, I would suggest that holding the current government responsible for the privitisation of the dental service is not exactly on the money.
It's a conservative ideal that you pay less tax but pay for health/education/retirement/etc and the socialist ideal that you pay higher tax but get the above paid for or subsidised (but Im sure evryone knows that). The Dentists are making a fortune out of private patients and are very reluctant to take NHS work. bare this in mind when you vote blue.

This is true but as there is no socialist political party available to vote for which might form a government, we haven't really got an alternative.
