I have started to wonder why we have alias's on forums, because I have noticed of late , regardless of what people post under, they are replied to by their name.

I for one ,do not really care, but I was wondering if anyone did?
I know before I get flamed to death, that this is a very friendly site, but why bother with alias's in the first place if you are going to be replied to by your name.

Should their be a privacy option when you register, or have I missed it?
Just wondering what people thought.

Bit bored really, waiting for tourny on UB Smiley

What do you mean, a privacy option, how would that work?  if people dont know your real name they cant use it, and if they do, you cant stop em  Smiley

What I mean is , whats the point in registering under an alias, if in the near future , you identity is going to be revealed. So when you initially sign up, you can keep your anonymity , if you so please.

For example, when "unknown " registered, did he really want everyone to know he was J laws son.

Im using him as an example, for all I know, he probably doesnt mind, but what if someone did.

I said Kev, I was just using him as an example, because of his alias.
That was what got me thinking about this subject actually.

I take Craig's - oops, sorry, I Know It's point here. Generally, I woluld never use a posters real name unless he is generally known to be that person. As an example, we ALL know who The Camel, or El Blondie, is.

When I first looked at an internet CardRoom I was astonished to see that nobody used their real name. Why, I thought?

Just one of those pecularities of the poker world, I guess.

Prime example has just occured on a thread.
Chilli pepper has just joined forum , and been welcomed in true Blondite fashion, which is superb.
Tikay then replies with the line " may I call you Marie "
Which is what im trying to say.
If she wanted anonymity , it has just been destroyed (bit strong of a word , but only 1 I could think of at this time of morning ).
So really , is there any need for alias's.
ps. I have the greatest respect for Tikay , which I do not say lightly, and know he wouldnt do anything to offend or upset anyone intentially.

I just am intrested in other opinions.

No worries I Know It, Chili's real name is actually Brian, but don't let on to Red-Dog or Colchester Kev, they think Chili is a woman.

I think I know it has a point here.

I know someone who posted on here and was disappointed to be replied to by their real name.

They have not posted since.

I'm the other way. I wish people would post under their real name EVERYWHERE but that's just  my personality. I'm a big believer in personal accountability.

Hence me suggesting recently that the option be added to the profile to have your real name.

I knew all along, (Julians hairy sandwich post gave it away) But I think Kev's ready to propose
