Okay playing a mtt and im on of the chip leaders 20 players left top ten get paid.

I have 40k guy the hand in question has 12 and a half.

Im big blind player is button

Blinds 300/600

Button makes it 1800 im big blind have 600 invested and have 10 9 of diamonds. I want to bully and have been picking good spots to re raise and felt this was a good spot so i make it 5000 total. He then pushes the rest so its around 7500 for me to call and i did bad call. I was pretty sure of his exact hand due to previous so do you call is the decision different if you know his exact hand.

its a tricky one , really depends on a few things.

if you feel you have 2 live cards then you can take the chance of increasing your stack and getting 1 place closer to the money

or if you want to hold on to your chips and think you are in bad shape then you might want to cut your losses.

if it was me i would probably flat call the bet , then check raise a low flop or try to stack him if you hit a good flop

there are many ways to play the hand but i feel you played it pretty poorly

You have pot odds so i would call here. If I think people are going to give me cr@p for calling then i type "i've got odds" before calling.

If i had him pegged as have A-K etc and not a pp then i would call his pf bet and then bet the pot on a non scary board.

You are slightly better than 60 40 . So once you raise 5k you have pot odds to call.

Also the call sends out a message that you cannot be bullied by a re raise.

What happened?

I dont mind the re-raise mate, especially if he is a frequent late position raiser and you fell there is a decent chance he will lay it down, Wether or not to make to call is a personal decision really as you are getting  odds against every hand that isnt a pair above 88, or have you dominated. It is a lot of chips, and i would probably fold i think and keep the chips.

Is the little pep talk i sent you doing any help gmoney? hope it is mate

I would agree with this...

I flat call the bet and have a little go at the flop. Costs the same and easy to fold if missed. If you hit and check you get all his chips a large % of the time.

I don't mind your re raise either but as you say you feel commited if he pushes and you are definately behind.

The flop brought me a flush draw and i missed and he won with ace high. If i would have flat called the bet i would have probably got him all in on the flop. Thanks for the advice and the alternate ways i could have played. I went on to final table and finished 4th so not all bad could have won but got outdrawn AK vsAJ flop AJ8

yes pab cheers mate i sent you a p.

Personally i think he is a little too deep to make this play. When you are wrong it costs a lot.
