They're off, by the way.  25/50, and a long night ahead of them... A nice sized field, however, at 80 runners.  Snoopy is off taking a look while I am in danger of becoming hypnotised by the lighting concept of the update arena - We are in UV-like purplish near-dark with the light of our laptop screens glowing like little beacons...  Try to bring you photos (of the players, mainly, of course) soon.

Before I jot down any hands, I've a quick conversation to retell:

Paul King: You alright snoops? Like the hair.
Me: Need my roots doing though.
Paul: Me too.
Me: You need your roots gowing.
Matt Tyler: We need ours planting, Paul.

Oh the wit!

I think you had to be there...

And it appears as though the fearless Alan McLean is OUT.

All the chips flew in on a flop of 9-3-5

McLean held A-K, and so did his opponent, Umarij Yunas. Unfortunately, the latter had two spades to go with the two spades on the flop.

Another on the Turn and that's all she wrote for McLean.

Fast and Furious at the start here in Grey Rainy Bolton - sheltered from the elements the players are certainly not shy about getting involved early on with their 10k stacks and 25/50 blinds...

H. Kazi is knocked to the felt holding on a board.  His opponent Bernard Litman held the rather more powerful , and there'll be some coming back from 700 chips.

But he's not doing as badly as Peter Smyth, who's OUT, after he called with a set of sevens on a turn which brought three hearts on the board, and also the nut flush for his opponent Neil Greenhalgh.

John Hewston has his mad hat on (in stores now!)

John called Arshad Hussain's preflop raise with Q-9, and so did next door neighbour Mark Robinson.

On a flop of T-8-6, John swiftly called a 600 hundred bet before moving all-in for 7k on the River when the next two cards brought blanks.

Both Arshad and Hussain, who had checked in front of Hewston, passed without thinking.

I think John's been watching that Mallu fella.
