So there i was, reading the forum as usual, when i see the APAT dissent has reared it's head again.

I think too many are focusing on the actual Tour rather than the APA, although closely linked they are in my opinion seperate entities, there is a subtle clue in the APAT logo, the T is smaller than the APA.

The actual Tour element is a bonus and possible precursor to future Tours and events, but what is really important is the actual association, a body started by our friends to give a voice to recreational players who i believe don't really get a say in how tournaments, etc, are run.  Also, i feel the APA could provide a way for it's members to have some stability of tournament structure across cardrooms in the UK, for example, these cardrooms could hold comps that have been approved by the APA.  This means that a member can go into any cardroom working with the APA across the land and know exactly what to expect from the structure and rules, no random local interpretation.  This i feel will be a great draw to new players, who are surely some of the APA's target audience and the cardrooms themselves.

As to the Tour, yes, you do have to be a member of the APA to play in these, but it is not the soul reason to join.  I have loved playing the online events, the structure has been great, one i think i would not normaly play due to financial restrictions and the forthcoming live events should be fantastic.  10,000 starting chips?  Wow, i sure at least one or two players will imagine themselves playing at the WSOP with those chips in front of them.  And one of the things about these events is providing a fun and enjoyable experience for all involved.

All in all, i suggest people look to the long term view as regards the APA, and i hope it has every success.

Obviously a big name like Stars see's the potential, in the future other big names could lend support and the membership will help too.  Enough people saying the same thing at the same time has an impact.

A little patience to allow the APA to get to it's feet properly would be great too.

A fair point, i agree that some may want to wait and see in which direction the APA goes before becoming a member.

There is plenty of time as i have a feeling the APA will be around for a long time.

I think we should change name to Brainn
