I have always been a poor sleeper, and the more important it is that I go to sleep, the harder it is to do.

I can only go to sleep when I'm not trying to, so I put the telly or the radio on and fall to sleep on the floor. Even when I was young, I would read into the wee small hours by the light of a candle or a small paraffin lamp. (we had no electricity)

Theres something special about reading a good book when your surroundings are dark and quiet, the author spinning his web from pages lit by the soft glow of a dancing flame. If you're lucky, a storm will blow up, the wind will sing in the trees as it removes the last leaves of autumn, it will rattle your teacup and throw fat rain droplets against your window. It's a magical night, it belongs only to you.

Who wants to waste it sleeping?

I used to have trouble sleeping so i looked into it a bit. Obviously things like the more exercise you do the more sleep you need, but i also think your fitness means you can cope better when you go without sleep. A decent diet and taking vits (decent vits, not the crap you get from tesco) mean that you get more from your sleep. Men can't cope with disturbed sleep whereas women can. Nature intended the women to wake up to attend to the kids and fall asleep easily again. They say that when men get a partner, they lose iq because they aren't sleeping as well.

If you need to stay awake, a quadruple expresso does far more for me than any red bull etc.

I have the same problem as RED... when i want to sleep and try to sleep, I cant! But when im watching TV or playing online etc i soon go without wanting too!

I can get away on no sleep most weekends, i play poker Friday nights and me and the mates normally go through the night then, and i have usually caught a "second wind" that i will play online through saturday night. lol.

The problem i have, is not so much, getting sleep, but once i am asleep i never get up! lol. Anyway, i must go to bed soon, for the postman is delivering my new phone in the morning which will need to be signed for, so an early rise is needed!

Its always been a good thing for me. Ive only ever NEEDED 4 hours sleep. but usually have about 6. I used to play 4 days a week live and often do quite well, meaning i was home about 3 /4am and i had to get up for work at 7!!

I took a lot of pro plus, red bull and coke (a cola) though.

I do remember once, when i was working in an Estate Agents head office accounts dept earlier in the year... There is a little game that goes on in Leighton Buzzard on a Monday night- a 5 min walk from my work... So, one monday, i walk there after work, and to cut a long story short we end up playing until 6am the next morning. I start work at 9am - i have no change of clothes, or anything of the sort with me! It is half hour journey home, so, i decide to stay in Leighton and go into work as i was  In i go at 7.30am, a little early - but it looks good, anyway, within 10 mins, i go to the toilet's and into one of the cubicle's and end up falling asleep ! - (dont worry, i was sitting, fully clothed on the toilet lid LOL) - luckily i woke up at around 8.45am so nobody had sent out a search party for me!! Later on that lunchtime i done the same, and had a nice nap during lunch break for an hour! LOL Cheesy

What stops me playing live is the lack of decent games available, If you dont frequent cincins then games are sparse up here so its limited untill LCI open their casino next year, As for staying awake, just drink tea or coffee, keep your mind active, I find table talk helps with this.

I'd love to stop out late and play poker.  Sadly, I'm usually knocked out by 10.30pm and in bed by 11pm.

I need 7hrs usually but can go 2 days without so long as I catch up.

this is actually a worrying problem I'm going to have- since finishing uni I've been kinda dossing around and working part-time and playing live poker but i'm due to start a full-time 9 til 5 soon and I dont know if i'm goin to be able to hack it anymore-

I play usually 2 or 3 times a week live and on a good night i.e a cash, the game can finish anywhere between 2a.m and 4a.m- (if I play cash can go right on right up to 8a.m but for the sake of my mental health I am no longer playing cash games) I cant handle the thought of not playing in the live games so the average time I'll get home when I cash is 3a.m which basically gives me 4 hours sleep- I dunno how i'm goin to handle this-I need a good 7 hours sleep and at the moment I havent been waking til around 11ish

Bite the bullet and do the decent thing. You can still appologise without hurting your pride or taking back what you said. You could be diplomatic and say that whilst you dont take back what you said, you are sorry for the way in which it came out, that it wasn't meant to be a personal attack and you are sorry for airing the view on a public forum.

Nem

Unfunny. I've just completed the Nottingham Marathon in 3hrs 15min..

If you saw me you would know I do not need the gym. I'm 6ft 2in
and 14st with a chest like a Bull Frog and a waist like a Lap dancer.

Ladies call me eye candy. I don't know what they mean by that
but I can live with it.

Must admit that I am having the same problem. For my first live tournament which was on a mid week day & I was doing ok and asked what time the tournament normally finessed and was told about 3.30. Seeing as I get up at 6 to go to work I knew I was going to struggle and just went all in so i could go home.
Since then i have made a few final tables and it is just a killer and takes me days to recover.
My preference would be to have more MTT's with fewer numbers to allow those like me that would like to play more regularly. Or to have more Sit N Go's.
