I think Europe are nailed on to retain the Ryder Cup this week.
I feel the Usa have too many rookies and some of their best players  ( Tiger) are just not team players.
The weather by all accounts has been terrible( v heavy rain) and that wont suit the Yanks, some of the rookies have only just got their passports so theyve probably never seen any rain never mind played in it .

I know there is a little unrest in the European camp but when it gets down to buisness they are great motivators to eachother. I look forward to a great home victory.
Come on Europe

Other opinions?

Its being shown on Sky. Its also being broadcast on Talksport radio too.  Golf coverage on the radio is usually very good.

I'll do that then, and keep off the golf threads so I don't spoil it.

Cheers

Can't wait for this. I've taken Friday off work and I'll be there at 7am with my bacon sarnie, cup of tea and the golf on the tele.

The only thing that I think is in the USA's favour is that Europe has the worst captain ever.

Never have I seen a captain less suited to the job in terms of communication and man-mangement ability.

Mark my words, Woosie has a very short fuse and I worry about what he might do under pressure.

All this leads to my feeling that 6/4(only 2.38 on BF now) could well be good value for the USA.

12/1 the tie is also worth a small saver as these matches are often very close.

I fancy the americans to take this as well

the rookies I think will be burning with U S A pride, fire up the sloths that like to treat the ryder cup as a free holiday, and make the team gel.

The Euro team I dont like the wild card picks, I think they were based on sentimental reasons only, Bjorn imo should definately have got a place, and the captain is a real livewire, will likely make strategic errors, piss the other players off, and just demoralise the camp.

I agree with above - Woosnam has not shown the leadership qualities needed.  The best team wins this, not the best group of players.  We probably have the best group of players ever but sadly lacking in leadership.  Lehman has exceeded my expectations of him as a captain so I give the advantage to the septics.

Miserable lot Cheesy

We're better at match play and will win this, we're also more of a team than USA.

From what I have seen the team spirit for the USA is at an all time high which can largely be attributable to the preparation Lehman has put into it.  The jury is out on Woosnam's strategy of isolating himself from his players by not communicating with them (supported by many players comments), his handling of the wild card picks, Monty's comments on Ollie not playing the BMW, etc etc does not indicate a clost knit team to me.

When Europe take the first few points in the opening day, USA's team spirit will rapidly fade away.   Our TS will get stronger as the competition progresses, we are more team oriented.

I also don't see how you can knock the wild card picks, they've never lost a point in the pairs games in Ryder Cup matches and Westwood had a half decent tournament the weekend of the picks.  I do feel sorry for Bjorn though, but I have to get behind the team that has been picked.

I think you are confusing two issues here Graham.

My views on Woosnam as a captain do not mean that I am not supporting the European team.

That's cool Smiley  I didn't mean to imply that everyone wasn't supporting Europe.  I do agree with most views on Woosy, I've never been a big fan of his either.
