Table Ram
Table Good Lighting
Table Mercier/Rutter

The last photo I managed to steal just as they were shutting down play for the day, so a couple of the players are missing as they'd already left.

A late casualty is Roland De Wolfe, his AK ran into TT with no improvement.

Mickey Wernick also lost a big pot late on with QQ vs KK, leaving him with just 9k for Saturday.

Was out at the Vic earlier tonight. There was a kid on the table behind Ivey in a black shirt wearing earphones with a fairly large stack. Think he was from Norway or somewhere around there! You don't know his name by any chance from that description do you?

And just as we approached the end, James Arkenhead doubled through his tiny 7,300 stack when his Pocket Eights held up against Big Slick, all-in preflop.

Also, I've just found out that earlier tonight Martyn Cavanagh was also knocked out the comp.

Play has now ended for the day, and the chips are being bagged and tagged.

A quick note on Johnny Lodden.

Considering he plays every single one of these EPT events, he doesn't seem to win all that much, and you rarely witness him make the final table. (In fact, I don't recall one EPT that I've been to where he finalled.)

This is where the big bucks lie, yet he's not getting there. True, he has the ability to amass a huge amount of chips, but he also stuggles to hold onto them, often losing them by the bundle at the latter stages. So whilst his agressive chip-getter go style makes him a fearsome player, does it make him better than the players who keep a lower profile, yet still make the final table of these EPT events?

We are talking about a very small sample, i think the $10m+ in his poker account tells us he knows a thing or 2.

I'm not doubting that he's a top class player, but that's online, and probably not tournament play.

As you surely know, live tournaments are a completely different kettle of fish and, as of now, he is yet to prove himself as the world class player that everyone pedestals him as.

Sure, he's won around the 50k mark, but I doubt his live tournament profit (if there is a profit at all) and final table appearances is as impressive as everyone seems to think it is.

However, I do believe Lodden is a great player and will soon become one of the best, but, up to today, I really don't think has reached the calibre of players such as Vaswani, Helppi, Mallu, Thewy, etc

Do you need to have results for people to realise you are a class player? I don't think so.

Most people were aware of how good a player JP was before he won a main event. Does he become a better player the day after winning 1?

Lodden is clearly an excellent player, anyone who plays with him comments on this fact. That alone is enough for me, looking at variance prone results is not the way to gage the very best players.

Add to your Lodden-discussion

Here is one of the moments of today;

Pocket AA in early position, raise 700 pre-flop. Get called by Mr Kabbaj on the button.

Flop comes

Lodden bets 1800, Kabbaj makes it 4000, and Lodden folds, showing aces, while Kabbaj tosses his head and shows up pocket 9's.......

Good fold, Johnny-Boy!
