I'm bored so I thought I'd make a thread to put photographs in of anything we want (within reason obviously!!). You can post pictures of you, your family, etc Some funny ones would be good!

I like looking at photos so lets see what you've got...

I'm on my mums computer so limited photo's, but I'll start...

Me and my friend Terri, aged 13

Cock and hen Goldfinches on my lawn.

When I was young I used to catch goldfinches using homemade mist nets or bird lime.

Bird lime is a sticky substance and its real use was to spread on newspaper to catch mice and rats by getting them so clogged up that they couldn't move. If you tried to catch a bird like that, you would kill it, so I would spread the lime onto a bristle pulled from a yard-brush, and then place it where the bird's wing would touch it when it took off.

The object of the exorcise was not to stick the bird to the bristle, but the bristle to the bird. It was just enough to prevent it from flying.

I always caught birds in the middle of winter, when they were desperate for food. They became tame so quickly then, after a couple of weeks, you could release them, and they wouldn't fly away. They would sit on the top of the aviary until you let them back in.

British finches are protected now, you are not allowed to take them from the wild, (and rightly so)
