I like the last three winners far better than that guy.  Every interview and TV appearance I have seen with him, he always appears like a prat .

Are they allowed to announce their hands at the WSOP?

With two players in the pot and ones all in? I'd be amazed if they wern't!!! telling an opponent your hand in order to get a reaction is one of the oldest ways of gathering information about the strengh of an opponents hand

lol,  very true.   I will keep these views to myself.   He is a prat though

There was a similar incident on one of the WPT events a couple of years back,  Mike Sexton said the guy in question was allowed to annouce his hand but it just wasn't a correct way to do things.

It does look a bit dodgy though when one says "I thought you said this" and the other says "sorry"

lol,  I should point out these are my views and I am probably completely wrong.  I normally am and tend to shout my mouth off abit  Cheesy .  But compared to a nice guy like Joe Hatchen who was so humble,  Jamie Gold always appears smug and a show off.   Again, I am probably wrong and I will probably find out he works at his local soup kitchen and helps old laddies across the road

I listened to an interview he did (it was linked from Paul Phillips blog). Not only did he sound like a prat in it but he was talking about how he'd talk to his opponents when he sat down and basically tell them whether or not they could play their hand...

Ive downloaded all the main event and watched it all. Jamie Gold makes a lot of those near the mark comments to a number of different players. At one time during the final he even turns over one of his cards while his opponent is considering calling, pretending hes got the straight . I think 10 J was the staight and he showed the Jack (he was actually holding J3).
His opponent mucked the better hand.

Jamie Gold does get a little annoying at timesand apparently hired bodyguards during the last couple of days due to threats.

Also he catches more cards than I have ever seen before on television, totally unreal

He had allready some affiliation with Bo Dog, which I think has something to do with pending courtcase over alledged sharing of any winnings. He and someone else were asked to get celebrities to wear Bodog apparell during WSOP due to their contacts with the stars.  In affect Bodog gave them a seat in main event which Gold and other guy agreed to split any winnings.

Exactly.

This isn't collusion, he said it after the money went in, he could have been saying that for a multitude of reasons

The hand was still in progress when they were talking about their holdings. Gold hadn't acted yet.

Could argue the case either way but even if Gold folded to that bet (no idea how much it was to him) on that flop he could give reasonable justification.

As for Gold's character, he strikes me as very greasy and someone I wouldn't mix with unless I was looking to let him hang himself (I believe he reneged on his word with the bloke who's suing him).

If it was just this incident against this player then i would agree, but you have to watch the whole thing to see he kept doing this. He would re-raise and announce 'i have a big hand' and when people called he would say "why did you call i told you i had a hand" if he is guilty of softplaying, he is guilty of softplaying all his opponents.

I haven't watched the final table yet but i quite like the guy. He doesnt give rubdowns!
