Well only 2 days shy of 4 weeks now. Another screaming abdab day hit me yesterday, I had some grief going off last night, & it bugged me for an hour or two, but no damage, & I got through.

I gotta telll you, I will have bad days, & let's leave that Christmas debate to one side for now - but as long as I say I won't smoke, I won't smoke, it's that simple. If I change my mind, I'll say so, but for now, my resolve is 100%, and that means I won't smoke.

The promised Crash Diet was due to start on Wednesday (1st November) but my head has to be "right" for thse things to work, & it was not, so I postponed it. I now start the diet tomorrow (Saturday), and I'm targeting 2 stone by Crimble Day. Once my head is in gear, & the first 7lb drops off, that'll be a cinch.

Big thanks to everyone for the words of encouragement. Hope all the other quitters remain on course.

I don't really feel a lot different health-wise, though I am sleeping a lot better.

I've been working in a TV Studio & an office the last three days (don't ask, you'll hear soon enough....!) and it's a non-smoking jobbie,. Every hour or so, a bunch of them say "ok, let's pop outside for a ciggie break". I feel quite left out, so I've taken to going outside with them, & they all stand & smoke like little chimneys, & I stand with them, ciggie-less! It's the social side, & I miss it.

Tikay, I stopped smoking in March after 33 years of smoking 4oz of roll ups every week, no urges no problem - after 8 months I still dont want to smoke, but am willing to argue with anyone and everyone which is totally out of character.

having said that I have been on a low fat diet for 10 weeks could this change be related?

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

Hey Dewi how cool this is almost exactly my situation,  except the out of character bit lol.

Rookie he hasn't given up anything, he has just stopped being addicted to nicotine. The semantics are important, please excuse me.

Been almost a week since we saw any updates on this, I hope everyone is still doing well, another week down tomorrow, it's starting to feel a lot easier isn't it Smiley Keep the momentum going, don't get complacent.

Great. I expected as much, it gets to the point where you forget you are quitting smoking, or at least don't remember about it as much. When it's like that you tend to not mention it and so the post rates drop. It's a sign that you are winning. How about the others?

Clean as a whistle here. Quitting smoking is easy, if you put your mind to it. It's been 5 weeks+ now, & next week, I'm halfway to Christmas Day........

The weight gain has been a negative, but I can deal with that, & the Diet has began. The target date for diet completion is Christmas Day, too.

I have a much improved sense of smell, and I sleep much better. Folks tell me my skin colour looks better (well, "less worse") & presumably, I do not smell as bad as I did before.

Playing poker - I sat next to a "puffer" on Saturday in Cardiff, he kept popping away from the table for a gasper, as I used to. Each time he returned, the tobacco stench was horrendous. I am truly embarrassed about doing this to others all my life.

Ah well, we move on.

Nice one Tikay, are you putting the money away yet? I managed to make another £300 overpayment to the old mortgage debt yesterday. Quitting smoking was a real kick up the arse to stop wasting my money.
