The acting was like eastenders acting, crap  and the sets were the most tacky I have ever seen

When I was at School,  a bunch of about twenty of us made a short 20 minute Vampire movie.  In my honest opinion , the acting in our movie was better than Robin Hood

British actors these days are so bad, they are all like soap actors.  Dr Who had terrible acting, but at least the scripts were watchable. Robin Hood was complete naff

The guy playing Robin Hood looked like he would be more suited to hanging round a chippy on a Saturday night

I hated the Kung Fu style sword fighting and the servant sounded posher than Robin Hood 


The original story had Robin Hood as a posh kind of fella and he had a servant who wasn't posh.  There was no divide in this and both sounded the same.  I don't know if this is due to today's drive for equality and a break down of the class barriers. In things like Robin Hood, that is part of the fairy tale

Such a disappointment - I'm 100% behind a public broadcaster, but it makes it difficult when they waste our money on rubbish like this.

exactly, that is what I was trying to say.  You just did it better .    The accents seem to be from everywhere.  In the 12th century this wouldn't happen .  People rarely moved around, perhaps the wealthy did, but not your average person

I like a few things on the BBC but I generally watch the SKY channels.  I'd put up with adverts if general free view TV was actually free.

The sad thing is this probably cost alot of money to make.   Whenever I see a British TV show I always wonder where they found the actors from.  I suspect they spot them in a train station and ask them if they fancy playing the part of Robin Hood.   

I was having this discussion the other night with a mate who is pro British actors. He loves people like Ross Kemp and thinks they are equal with the actors from things like LOST and 24.  I am not convinced.  I remember a movie I saw with Ross Kemp called Spartacus. When I saw he was in it, I made a bet with the person I was watching it with that he would say  "you scummmm" at some point.  His first lines after appearing on screen was " You scummm".  I almost fell off my chair laughing. I will always remember that

If anyone else remembers the crossroads remake a girl from my school was also in that ( she was HOT - blonde, curvy ).

I thought it was great, watched it with the kids and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
About time we had some watchable early evening tv that wasn't american.
I thought Maid marion was a bit plain though.

I went to the same school as Grahame Obree the cyclist.  He was there about 10 years before me and used to live in the village along the road.  His cycle shop is still there

you wouldn't be able to understand 12th century English mate, barely recognisable as the same language. Chaucer is hard enough work and that was 250 years later.

I thought it was alright for what it was. harmless family entertainment. to right off "British Actors" based on unknown TV family drama performances seems a bit daft. Looking forward to Ray Winstones new series, VINCE for example. that'll be very well performed.
