A hello from the weird and wacky world of dial-up from me.

Just moved house on Friday and got told that we couldn't get broadband sorted untill 48 hours after getting a phoneline.
Called on Sunday to get it sorted and BT (who need to do a MAc Code thing) told us that the line needed to be unblocked as the previous owners had broadband and that was still showing on our line. This would take untill next monday!!!
so on monday coming we can apply for BB (noone will sell it to us untill the line is unblocked..even though I offered to pay as of immediatly and said they only needed to send me the stuff in advance so everything could be set up on monday). to get BB will take another 2 weeks...so now I have  3 weeks of no BB!!.

I was soo desperate for internetaccess that I went to currys to pick up an AOL disk...now I have that crap installed on the lappie and have dial up. this only because it's the only way to get unlimited access for free (1 months free trial which i will cancel as soon as I have BB)

This is doing my head in....I am pretty sure poker is out of the question for 3 weeks I can make my friday night game but work and the new house keep me busy all other nights Sad Sad

You guys had better keep me entertained Smiley ...post as many hand analysis as you can please so I atleast remember what poker looks like in the mean time....

ohno..time to post this and wait 3 minutes for the page to refresh Sad

Poker is fine on dial up. I've survived for 2 months Smiley

AOL doesnt disconnect you after 2 hours unlike my ISP but I refuse to install their cack software on my PC.

REMEMBER to cancel after the month or they will charge you every month for not using their 24/7 stuff Smiley

Didnt know dial up still exisited Shocked

I have visions of it being so slow, then when playing online, your blinds will be 100/200 when everyone else is 1000/2000!

Dial up is a close second though.

I did have a look at playing poker through dial up yesterday but it just bugs me...maybe I'll play a free roll or something to really try it out but I noticed my usual HU games will just have to wait.

The poker sites use less than a 1kB/s in network traffic. So all you on broadband are wasting approx 120kB/s (based on a 1Mb connection).

The downside is that if you try to surf webpages during a poker game, you will lag. It will look like some mug is sitting waiting to decide what hes doing when in reality the timer is on you Smiley This is okay if you have already clicked the "fold in turn" box.

Surfing blonde whilst playing on tribeca is absolutely fine on dial-up, I've never had a problem other than getting disconnected every two hours and having my phone line tied up.
