Have I experienced dejavu before?

Have you ever actually seen "garage doors constantly in use" ?

At the 10 items or less checkout, do I count grapes individually?

How would I know if I've had amnesia?

Please refer to my prior reply.

One could argue that 'constantly' does not have to be taken literally -- it can also mean 'regularly'.

Grapes come in bunches.  One bunch is one item.  Just as a 24-pack of Coke counts as one item, not 24.  If you mean that you pick off the individual grapes in order to throw away the stalks (which I suppose you might do to save money, since grapes are sold by weight, I think), then that is just weird.  I suppose you could put them all in a bag.  One bag is one item.

Anyway, the thing that bugs me more than someone having 11 items, is that Tesco got their grammar wrong -- the correct phrase is actually '10 items or fewer'.

One could also argue that "in use" does not mean to say that things are going in and out.

Their "use" could involve something as simple as maintaining a physical barrier between lawnmower and lawnmower thief.

If one has spare time enough to pluck all the stalks out of all the grapes one intends to purchase, then it is a fair bet that one will perhaps not require express checkout lines quite so much anyway.

Two excellent points, thetank.

Clever guy, this 'One' fellow, whoever he is.  I wouldn't want to get in a debate with him.

People who ring you and then ask who it is.

People who play internet poker and take ages to act on every hand no matter what's happening.

People who react to people who play internet poker and take ages to act on every hand no matter what's happening by typing ZZZZZ in the chat box.

Excerpts from a recent local radio news bulletin:

"The incident occurred sometime between the 26th and 27th of September."

Huh? There's nothing between these dates. The twilight zone, perhaps?

"Police are looking for between 5 and 7 youths."

So they're looking for 6 then.

Do things like this bug you, or is it just me?
