Yes, erm, well Southend beat us but all their goals were gimmies and mistake by us, they didnt dominate the match unlike the other games we got truly spanked.
Yeah, but who else have Southend ever beaten in the cup?
hahahaha
Well we made through, let's hope we get a big team like Man Utd in the next round

as an arsenal fan, i hate the carling cup. i wish it was scrapped the only good thing about it is we can see some of our kids coming through like fabregas, eboue, senderos over the years, but that is the only plus side to it but we even get moaned at then, arsenal dont take it seriously, even their reserve side is full of foreigners etc etc.A mate of mine is a west brom fan and went the other night and said that even our 2nd team play great football, better than most but we still get bad press about it.
i have a season ticket at arsenal and go home and away but Ive only been to 1 CC match in 7 seasons, thats how important it is to me. we have drawn everton in the next round, away , and i think if they field their 1st team we will be out.
i think Matt made a post saying that for teams that are not in Europe it is a competition that they are desperate to win and i think it is those clubs that keep this cup going, for that when arsenal get knocked out to everton i will support Charlton in this years league cup.
UP THE ADDICKS
I
know an Arsenal season ticket holder and I'm sure he said that for his 700 quid he gets all home PL, FA cup and CL games... but not carling cup! If this is right it is absolutely crazy
. I have no issue with the big teams playing lesser teams... the cup provides a spot in europe and its the only way Newcastle with make europe for next year!
The cup won't be taken more seriously unless it attracts more crowds (through some sort of cricket 20/20 culture) or have more prize money throguth sponsorship.
Not that it matters, Watford have just equalised and we've scored our goal for the night.
rooky this is absolutley right. we get all games aprt from the league cup. there are 2 reasons behind this 1 is we dont play a 1st team in it and the other is that the club reduces ticket prices for league cup games by about 25%.

Arsenal season tickets holders used to get something like 7 (maybe 10) cup games included in the ticket, regardless on which order they fell in. If the CL games came first you got them, if it was FA Cup, then that.
This is about 7 years ago though.
thatis true we get the 1st 7 cup ties at home included in the price excluding league cup ties although you are right they were included up until about 7 years ago. As soon as they stopped including it i stopped going. i used to pray we got drawn away lol.

Thanks for the info Dan. I can't think of a way of stating why I think it should include the carling cup, even with those reasons... but I do!!
The lad I know with the season ticket is more of a friend of a friend and I only see them when I'm drunk in islington! It may of been more than 700 but that figure stuck in my mind for some reason!

I have to admit i was most disappointed when i heard that the Liverpool vs Arsenal game had been abandoned that Sky weren't going to switch games and cover the Charlton vs Wycombe as i thought that this would be the only chance i get to see them win a game all season.
Now i'm glad they showed live spanish football instead!!
Championship here we come.................

Tell me about it!! I'm still in Swansea, so I made a rare trip to the pub (yes rare, I've changed y'know!) just to see the scores coming through during the other game only to find out that they were playiong spanish football instead was totally gutted and went home to listen to five live instead.
Anybody got any idea why they didn't show the other game? You lot are a lot more clued up on these things than me, surely they would have had cameras there for the highlights??

Haven't you got to beat Southend first, forgive me if you're like 10-0 up or something, don't get much news in Wales!

Twitching yet Nem?
I'm convinced that Martins shot was over the line... that puff of white dust did nothing to convince me otherwise!
Dont think we deserve to lose so lets hope we dont!
