Its been a few days since the event, but it is still in my mind so I thought I'd spread my admiration for the poker played by Vu Nguyen.

I was on the same table as him all night and seldom have I seen someone get such terrible beats, knocked back four times ( I think ) down to the smallest of chip holdings only to fight back each time and make the final.

Well played and well done, and to me the real star of the event.

For me the star was Scott Baker. having qualfied through a £5 rebuy satellite, the guy (who also quuaified for the Walsall GP) made some great calls and lay downs during the event.

Emphasising that ther are dozens of players with abillity, just bubbling under, but for a vareity of reasons lacking the required bankroll to commit to play the circuit.

Hi all, this is Scott AKA 'the jumper' as my local cardroom manager decided to call me sometime back!

Thankyou to you all for your pleasant comments it is really appreciated especially from people I admire in the game. I dont feel this was a one off break of luck for me as im confident in my skills for the game but I hope I dont suffer too much bad luck in the events I am now rolled for!

I very much enjoyed playing the game and indeed taking advantage of the oh so common 'Who's that muppet' attitude I confront so often from a minority of players. I met/played with and talked to some great people over the weekend and some of the things said to me were hard to accept but extremly kind! I thank you and those people for the complements, advice and encouragement. I also would like to thank the the guy who on the first day refered to me as 'F*IN STUDENT' I enjoyed taking you out after that. And for your information ive never been a student!

Anyway my rant is over thankyou again and hope to see some of you in walsall for the masters!

A bit like getting AA in for 50k chips, what were you thinking!

I understand locking up the 1k Tighty just dont understand the logic of buying in to 500 pound comps and being happy with the 1k by playing like that around the bubble. Ok you turned into a card rack and made a bit of extra progress but most times you wouldn't. In such a top heavy comp you are giving away a lot of equity with this play, if the other short stack had doubled up you would of been cursing yourself as well.

Flushy i think i'm suffering delayed tilt on that beat it probably still hasn't sunk in, could of done with 13k after last week online but good luck to Hoss glad he used it well.

you are right. At the time/Heat of the Moment I was blinkered to securing the 1k as the short stack was a virtual certain elimination next hand and I didn't want to hand him the 1k by going out there and then.

If the short stack had close to the chips of me or had a full round til he had to shove it in, I would have clearly pushed.

the decision was related to making the final, so logically yes. Sadly, probably unforgiveably.

If it was a decision between 500 and 1000 and not 0 and 1000 then I would have pushed I expect.

 At the time I had less than 6x bb (having been card dead at the 12th down to 10th stage and being pushed off when I tried a couple of steals making it worse) so my prospects of getting anywhere on the final table were remote. The decision to my mind was clearly between 0 for 10th and 1000 for 9th and not 0 for 10th and x for 8th/7th/6th etc

To my mind the extra 4500 chips I would have gained from pushing with QQ and picking up the blinds there had minimal extra equity..having 8x bb not 6x bb entering the final table made no difference to my chip stack relative to the average or 7 of the 8 other remaining players apart from a slither of extra fold equity when I pushed with a marginal hand.

Pushing with QQ there and getting looked up and losing to AK/AA/KK whilst a remote possibility was still to my mind at the time not something I would have contemplated with the shortstack on the other table with 1x bb and going into the BB next hand.

As it was folding QQ there was a +£1700 decision and I will never know if I had pushed, won the 4500 etc whether than £1700 could have been prizemoney for the top 3. I strongly suspect not though.
