Is it really possible to be 5 or 6 months away from playing a game of football if you can currently cycle, row and treadmill? I sometimes wonder whether it would be in NUFC favour to really push him and see what the insurance would pay. (obviously the ideal would be pushing him back to scoring PL goals!)
Without doubt a great professional but will he ever be in a position to deviler his investment? (Can 16 million be returned whilst an NUFC?
I don't think there is any chance being off to Liverpool for less than 13 million anytime soon (18 months) even if that is what he wanted.

I'm not sure LFC could justify 13 mil on a guy we sold for 8m (plus Nunez who went for 3m) seeing as he will be rotated too.
I feel sorry for you guys as he's a top pro and a good lad who knows where the net is. Unless you get a good 5 or 6 years out of him whilst he's totally fit I doubt you'll ever get what's considered 16m worth.

I bought Owen for liverpool for 13m in football manager 2007. The partnership of Crouch and Owen up front is lethal. Won the champions league and 2nd in leage. Wonder what they would be like if it really happened. lol

I bought Owen for liverpool for 13m in football manager 2007. The partnership of Crouch and Owen up front is lethal. Won the champions league and 2nd in leage. Wonder what they would be like if it really happened. lol
I must admit I would like to see it however I think Kuyt will be the main man for Liverpool for the forseeable future. |

So on Friday last week the new manager comes out and says we have four top class strikers for the new campaign, two for each posistion. Sunday and he's saying if Michael Owen wants to leave he can't stop him.
Surely it would be a better idea to get some concrete assurances off him so we can make sure that we do have four top strikers next season. I suspect that 'Big Sam' has tried to do this, which makes his comments even more frustrating/worrying.
I would be happy to pen a new deal without the clause unless we didnt qualify for europe this season if I was MO, on the basis that (fairly directly) him being injured was the major reason behind us not being there, and therefore activating this clause, but there is a major difference between me and MO. (Well okay there are many!)
It got me thinking though.
i) how many clubs can afford to pay MO's wages?
ii) Are those clubs looking for a striker?
iii) Are they interested in him?

Maybe that's why he left Liverpool. He knew that he'd never get close to the physio as Harry Kewell would always be in there?  |

Good post. Honestly I think he'd rather be anywhere that plays regular CL football - even Man Utd but the truth is he's too much of a risk at 9m for anyone else to want him. |

Aparently it decreases further than 9m at each transfer window.
It would probably be best to flog him for about 5m now. We could then buy a few African nations with the money saved from his wages, and bring through some talented african youth players.

he has plenty of ability , sadly he suffers from SMSLOL!!! I think his finishing is poor. His conversion of on on one's must be less than 50%. For me he's part of a growing number of players that get by at being average at football and having great pace. |
