Double Chance Freezeout - Advice please

Im playing a double chance freezeout tonight, for the first time and was looking for anyones thoughts of how to take the chips -
the options tonight are -

1 - All 10k at the start
2 - 5k at start, can then only take second 5k once your stack drops below 2.5k or the rebuy ends (80 minutes)

I think i will be taking all mine upfront tonight, any opinions whats best and why?

the common view is to take all at start, particularly if you are aggressive


However I like to take into account whether my table is...if no one does it or if all others are can make a differnece to strategy


In my experience of festivals, its rare for people to take them at the start. Everyone without exception does so when they fall below half though, immediately

How can they say you either take your double chance at the start or you can only take it once your stack is less than 2500? At the start of the tournament your starting stack is greater than 2500  

Surely they should let you take the double chance at any time during the first 80 minutes or only when your stack is less than 50% of its starting amount.

p.s. for the record i always go for option 1

Given the restrictions they've imposed here, not taking the addon at the start will disadvantage you.

Its a bizarre format.  It should either be unrestricted through the 80 minutes or subject to the 2500 chip restriction from the start (ie no immediate add-on allowed).  The one they've come up with just doesn't make any sense to me.

yep...that about sums it up. I'd definetly take them at the start in this format.

Every double chance tournament i have played i have had the option to take the double chance at any point - regardless of current stack size. I've always taken mine before the first hand is dealt.

Depends, some allow it from the start others below half your starting chips.

You should be able to take it at any time.

I always take it as soon as anybody doubles up or takes theirs as the potential to miss out on a full double up is there.

Its a tourny in a back of a pub, £75 buy-in.
I went for  a pint last night and asked them what the options were and thats what they said.
ill take mine at the start, and take the risk.

Should be 30 runners hopefully, so quite a decent payout.

Grosvenor festivals (well Luton anyway) don't let you take them at the start and you have to fall to half your starting stack or below.  Broadway has an unrestricted policy (can take them at the start or anytime after).

The rule varies from place to place but this venue appears to be unique in coming up with a combination of the two that makes no sense!

The relative value per unit of each chip depreciates as the tourney progresses a bit like inflation.  So you are better off having the maximum amount of chips when their equity value per unit is greatest. If a good opportunity presents itself you need to be able to take maximum advantage.

Busting out early doors sometimes is a necessary consequence of being a strong aggressive player.

I seem to bust out early doors quite a bit and it doesnt bother me in the slightest, hence why i wanted to take my chips upfront.
Nothing worse than a great hand coming along and being sat with only half your chips in play.

Some of the most aggressive players leave the addon and gamble with the starting chips, if they bust it's not fatal.
