I think you have to yes, I'd be surprised to find him with AA as then he wouldn't have needed to reraise you pre-flop. KK might be a possibility though but I am not laying down a set of queens on this board.

I was going to ask why you checked the turn, but looking at the board and his possible holdings, it's quite a good play if there is any possibility that your opponent can lay down AK.
As it is, your check makes it mandatory to call because you can't rule out AK and the pot is too big. There might be a case for a laydown if you both had much more behind and we have more info on the player.

Why wouldn't he just call preflop with AK.

I see quite a few people reraise with AK in late position preflop. (Though iwould indeed probably flatcall) The only thing i rule out is him having Aces from his preflop reraise.. I take it the guy had Kings and that's why the original question is essentially "could you lay it down"

Boldie,
what I cant figure out is how you are ruling him out of having AA because he put some money in the pot preflop.
Byron,
nice turn play, now call the river.

I would not have reraised him pre-flop if I had aces that's why I don't think he won't have them. Afterall a reraise pre-flop with the aces would put someone raising with anything else on "high alert". There's no need to do that IMO. Just flat call the raise pre-flop and let him hang himself.
He might of course have Aces (I am not him and haven't seen what he did hold) but I am saying I take him for Kings rather then aces for the reason I explained earlier.

Aren't you basing his actions on what you personally would have done though?
I'm no cash game expert but I would often be reraising with aces here and i suspect a large % of the poker community would too. He's obviously got a range of hands here but I'd say Aces are most definitely in that range.
EDIT: Just noticed that byron already showed the guy had aces. lol i didn't see this before.

you're right..I was basing it on what I would do...guess I play them differently from most then.

I don't like the check on th turn. You should only check there if you think AA and AK will fold to a bet. Other that I think you played it well. I might raise more on the flop.

I would never pass this in a cash game. If you are wrong, reload, that would just be exceptionally unlucky. Of the 3 hands you have him on, 2 you can beat and the call for you is £200 into £668 so around 7/2. If you pass here then you are not trusting your read and your range enough which is far too tight and a -ev pass.
