I read on the BBC website that carragher said he wouldn't.... and it seemed an interested hypothetical scenario

I dont have a fav football team, but Gerrard is defo my fav footballer, and I dont really know why..so if I was a l'pool supporter, my answer would be a clear "no"

What would you answer be... and why?

I'd keep Gerrard as he gives 110% every game whereas Ronaldinho would get kicked up in the air so many times in the premiership he wouldn't want the ball! Cracking goal at the weekend mind you - Roy of the Rovers stuff!

I really rate Gerrard at Liverpool and I don't think they can do without him as they simply don't have any real class anywhere else on the pitch. Ronaldhino does need atleast 1 or 2 good players around him and at Liverpool he would be wasted.

It's a good question, and I think Liverpool need Gerard, where Ronaldinho would be a want.

Likewise Gerrard would be a player Barca (or any club) would want, they wouldn't need him as much as Ronaldinho.

So I doubt either club would want to swap.

Ronaldinho would not win as many matches individually as gerrard's contributions will for liverpool.

Superb player but he is the icing on the cake. Gerrard IS the fking cake.

Never.

Also, Gerrard wouldn't play as well for any other team, his heart is really in it when he plays for liverpool.

Would love to be able to splash out the sort of dosh we're talking about there.

There's talk of an investor eventually having been found, so that'll help with the stadium build and hopefully enable us to sign those few players we need to help us challenge for the title.

I don't see this happening. Asking someone for a hundred million to get their name on our stadium or to have shares in our company (without a real say in what happens as the majority will not be sold) is just unrealistc. If we sold outright we'd have a field day of offers. Look at Villa, West Ham, Chelsea, Man U, Portsmouth but to name a few.

These clubs all have (or are getting) quality managers too so I only see Liverpool going backwards in terms of the pecking order unless we find the investment and stadium funds soon.

As for Gerrard Vs Ronaldinho - I honestly believe Gerrard is the most influential player and wouldn't swap him for ANYONE.

But he's not the only cake in the shop (stopping this analogy here).

Barca would be unlikely to swap their midfield for Liverpool's, so they can afford to have Ronaldinho as the superstar. Liverpool seem to need Gerrard on form as their superstar to keep themselves in contention lately.

No, it's not a stadium name deal, and they're not looking to 'sell-out' to the highest bidder.  The board have been looking for investors for quite a while, and haven't found anyone suitable.  They don't want it to be like the manure situation, they want people who have a genuine interest in the club going forward - which is why plenty of potential deals have not come to fruition.

In terms of investment, we have been behind for quite a few years now...

I'm with you on that one.  I'd also suggest that Henry is almost as important for Arsenal.  Now he'd be more than welcome at Liverpool...

He's an exceedingly good midfielder (according to Mr Kipling), and he's the best cake in the shop - by far.

Looks like Rafa is still building for the future, as we've just signed 17-year-old Argentine defender Emiliano Insua from Boca Juniors.  Who I obviously know absolutely nothing about..

This is my point. It doesn't seem reasonable to be asked to invest tens of millions for no real say in what happens because of a smaller shareholding than the Moores family. I'm not saying I want to sell out or I think we should. I just think investors for this type of deal will come few and far between.

I hate saying this but other clubs "selling out" has improved them no end. In the long run we may have to rethink our investment policy.
