I have to say like alot other people that HoH1 (Harrington on Holdem) is the best book for people who want to learn more about the game, who already know a bit.

If you can play the game already then get onto Sklansky.
As for bankroll management, well you dont need a book for that

No, for bankroll management just read this blog -
http://88percent.blogspot.com/
And then do the exact opposite to what you read in there.

I bought 4 books on Amazon recently: The two Harrington Tournament Strategy books, Small Stakes Holdem by Sklansky et al, and Caro's book of Tells. Harrington is as good as promised, Caro's is quite hard to absorb to be honest (no tells are hard and fast), but the Sklansky has really wowed me, the best money I ever spent. They guy is maybe a little bit tight though.
When I was starting out I used
www.pokertips.org
for my background info. Probably turned me into the loose son of a bitch I am today.

If you specifically want a book that covers bankroll management and risk of ruin then 'Gambling Theory and Other Topics' by Mason Malmuth is your best bet. There's some quite eye-opening analysis in there.
The new Mathematics of Poker book that I received yesterday also looks to cover this but it is much heavier going as a read and I've not got to that part of it yet. However, the analysis will most likely be very maths-intensive.
Tournament-wise, the Harrington books are by far the best material on this.

When you talk about Sklansky, is that "Theory of Poker"? Looking for something sensible to spend some Stars FPPs. That Aston Martin can wait a couple more days...
I have Supersystem II, would you still recommend buying Sklansky then - I'm particularly interested in limit hold'em theory.

Theory of Poker is a fabulous book, covering many theoretical points on limit poker as a whole. There are examples in the text which use Stud and Razz hands as examples so its not totally focussed on limit hold'em. However, I woud recommend it highly if you want a book that discusses things from a theoretical/conceptual point of view, rather than being a 'how to' instructional book.
If you want more instructional LHE texts then buy 'Small Stakes Hold'em' by Ed Miller and 'Holdem Poker For Advanced Players' by Sklansky and Malmuth. Both are absolutely fantastic texts.

What about no limit books? I was thinking of getting No Limit Hold 'em: Theory and Practice by David Sklansky and Ed Miller.

Got a brief mention on the Pot Odds thread.
http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=16722.msg346104#msg346104
I think its a good book but not as groundbreaking as Theory of Poker was at the time it came out. Provided you're not expecting an instructional type approach from it then you'll get something out of it. I'm just wary that anyone jumping into it blindly after reading Harrington will be disappointed by it, as its a totally different kind of book. Its also the type of book (like TOP) that benefits from repeated readings as there's too much information to absorb in one go.

Cheers Sheriff, forgot about that. I think I may get it and have a read before HOH4 and Small Stakes NLHE, I have HOH 1-3 and Small Stake LHE and they are excellent so I'm happy to trust in these too
