Why would you think so?
It is kept private on here (only yourself and the mods can see it) and 99% of people wouldn't know what it could be used for?

What has happened?

IP Address's can be obtained VERY easily, don't be too hasty to accuse someone of "giving" your IP address away.

James,
If you registered under your own name initially, they would have your ip address, you then go away and reg as someone else they will know it's you, same ip address,

Your IP address won't change no matter how often you change your username, if you opened a new account on here they would still know it was you.

Your IP address will be known to the owner of the other site.

The web server and forum software will have logged it.

So, you register as user A and makes some posts, their log will have something in it like:

User: A
IP: 1.2.3.4
Post: xxxxxxx

then you re-register as user B and make another post. The log shows:

User: B
IP: 1.2.3.4
Post: xxxxxxx

Doesn't take a genius to work it out, and nothing to do with anyone e;se 'exposing' your details.

And it does beg the question, why would you feel a need to post on a single forum under more than one username?

James. I dont know exactly what you are trying to say, but I am not going to bite.

Just google for "ip address" and see for yourself just how easy it is to get someone's IP address.

And if you are that worried, you can easily get a small proggie that will generate a "false" IP address which changes every time you log onto the internet.

Failing that, just ask your ISP  for a "non static" IP address - this will then change every time you re connect to the internet.

i was a new member on the site in question which i have not said which one ,,
NEW MEMBER
NEW EMAIL
NEW USER NAME
NEW ADDRESS
BUT STILLthis site said who i was i just dont know how this is possible unless someone from here checked my ip address and gave it to the other site who then put 2+2 together and come up with it being the same person.i dunno i might be wrong but its a bit fishy,a real good friend of mine who is 5-it hot on computers said this is only possible if someone gave my ip address to the other site....i just wanted conformation from this site if this is possible thanks...
