My childhood memories of Hogmanay in Scotland was my mum inviting friends and neighbours round for a party.

Us kids were sent to bed early but couldn't sleep for the bloody noise...just as you were nodding off we were whisked out of bed in our pjs to eat black bun and to be slobbered over by drunken uncles (wont go into that 1).

My youngest sister used to make a bomb as she was the cute/talented/singer in our family and us kids had to get up and do a turn.........pure torture for me.

After a sugar rush of cake and coke (the cola kind) we were sent back to bed buzzin an not a hope in hell of sleeping, so me and my sisters would listen to the party until we eventually through exhaustion drift into the land of nod.

When we woke a few hours later (or so it seemed) there would be people that we had never met sleeping all over the floor that we had to climb over to get to the bathroom only to find it covered in puke....I ..being the oldest ...cleaned it up so we could all have a pee.

In Scotland back then (dont know if its the same now) Hogmanay lasted till the last man left.

I remember 1 year the last guy who my mum could NOT get rid of (was with us for 10 days)  turned out to be a gatecrasher LOL

Various memories are...the smell of the HUGE pot of lentil soup simmering.

My uncle threatening to chop my mum up to bits with a hatchet coz she didnt like his girlfriend...but the funniest of all...was when...

.........picture the scene.....house jam packed with god knows who....no where to sit...the sofa is full and some are sitting on the back of the sofa too.

Grease Lightning comes blaring out the speakers....everyone on the sofa jumps up to dance and the poor fkers who where sat on the back of the sofa went straight through the bay window.

It was bloody hilarious and luckily no one got hurt badly.

What did I do this year...played poker and cried when the bells rung (i always do that).

I look back on last year and think what were the highs and lows.

I can quite honestly say that the biggest high in my life last year was logging into Blonde and seeing my face (very bad piccy btw) on the home page saying I was in the Blonde Hall of Fame...it really was sooooooo unexpected. I saw it then had to log off cause I was so emotional.

Second best..........wont go into that 1

and third best was going to Walsall for BB3 and meeting so many lovely people.

So on those happy memories im off before I get weepy....Hogmanay is s**t when you are Scottish and away from home.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE XXXXXXXX

Suzanne, you have just captured my early memories there, but add to the fact Jan 1st is my birthday is seemed doubly unfair to me that all these adults were partying on my birthday, but I wasn't invited!

Then I would spring up the next morning wanted to celebrate and just be met by miserable gits with hangovers.
