Absolutely Ridiculous Hand News Now -

Daniel Smith had managed to yo-yo back down to just 8,000 (I missed something big), but this hand, where he moved all-in blind and announced it to the table, was more fun, I'm sure.  He was called first by the player he described as "the tightest on the table" and the big blind too.  He flipped his cards briefly upwards, and I saw the monstrous two hearts .  It looked all over.
Flop:  .  He didn't say a word, as the others both checked.
Turn:    Now the tight caller moves in for about 10k.  Dan is crushed.  As the other player decides whether or not to call, he shouts to Dad that it's all gone pearshaped.
"I make a tenner in the last longer!"  Gloats Chris Smith.
"Aim for the 140 Grand instead..." suggests Dan.

Anyway, the middle guy gets out of the way, and convinced he's up against the Queen, Dan shows the house of fours.  No, it's , and he trebles up.  "I love this game."

And British player Paul Morrow takes yet another hit, this time dropping down to 80k at the hands of Keith Maguire.

All the spondoolies flew in on a Flop of (wasn't too much more for Paul to be fair) with Morrow holding and Maguire sitting pretty with the Bullets.

A Jack on the Turn scared the bejesus out of him, but another on the River confirmed him the pot.

Daniel Smith is now OUT.

Collette Murphy, the only female player remaining, has doubled up with Pocket Kings versus Pocket Sevens. Hairy moment when the Turn brought a devilish flush draw, but the Irish lass survived.

More bad news for the Brits as Jim Reid goes crashing out.

Eion Olin placed the finishing touches (Q-2 vs J-T all-in preflop with a 7-T-Q-J-9 board), but most of the damage was done by Dermot Jacob whose Queens outdrew Jim's Cowboys in one of those unavoidable battle of the blinds encounters. That put knocked him down to just 7.5k, and with the blinds at 1.5/3k, Jim was removed the very next hand.

----------------------

Meanwhile...

We're now down to 35 after losing another player at the hands of Sean Clery who adds another 10k to his stack.

Raising from second position (20k with A-K), Mateyboy decided that J-6 was the hand to push with as he stuck in his remaining 10.5k from the button.

Board = three diamonds

A little rush of all-ins going on here - first Sligo John moves all-in under the gun for 23,800.  Former chip leader Lam Tinh thinks for a good while before calling.  No one else is interested, and as the dealer says, "On their backs," John comes back with, "On their Jacks?" showing .  Lam's not looking healthy.
Flop:
Turn:
River:    Saved by the straight.  "The best hand wins," allows good-natured loser Tinh...

And we're down one Bernard Dunne - he got into what he probably thought was a good situation, all in on the turn with a board of two spades holding the nice-looking .  I bet both players checked the double-nined flop.  Unfortunately his opponent held , and the Six on the river changed nothing.  Down to four tables.

We've lost the end of Day 1 chip leader, Lam Trinh.

He'd dented his stack previously, but decided Nines were the hand. Unfortunately, he ran into both the Jacks of Seamus O'Reilley and the Ladies of Mike Healey, the latter standing up on a harmless 3-8-8-4-6 board.

Chris Smith's slow-and-steady approach means that he may be hovering on around average chips when stacks like his have been won and lost several times by more erratic stack-builders, but he's just won another small pot - after an UTG limper he picked up in two hands what can only be described as a chunk of 1k yellow chips and put them in the middle.  His raises seem to be respected; he showed which he no doubt hopes will enhance that respect...

Elsewhere Caiman Kennedy is holding on to his big stack, but he's not pressed the 'Sit Out' button, raising in position but folding to a bet from big blind caller Shane Clearey on the flop.

---------------

Desi Graham is OUT.

Last hand before his break, he made his move with but ran into the Kings of Dermot Jacob.

70k pot went to Jacob when the board came three diamonds two spades

Paul Morrow has doubled up courtesy of Keith Maguire who is down to just 15k as a result.

Paul Morrow continues to yoyo, this time moving in the right direction after eliminating short stacker Kevin Maguire with A-4 vs K-T.

Meanwhile, Shane Cleary has been dented by early chip leader Ciaran Burke, his A-9 failing to outdraw his opponent's Pocket Sixes, all-in preflop.

Just 29 left.

Biggest Pot of the Day -

Tommy Wilson raised preflop in late position, and Le re-raised on the button, all in, for his 131,000 stack.  Tommy, who covered him, called.  A big crowd gathered as the chips were counted down...
Tommy showed:
showed:

Flop:
Turn:    (there was a great bubble of tension around the table now, and Le was stood on his chair)
River:    And the victorious Le gave a whoop as he rose to the enviable Chip Leader position.

How about this for a hand??

John Clancey raises from under the gun, Skigo John smooth calls, Kevin Buckley moves all-in for an extra 11.5k, Chris Smith moves all-in, Clancey re-re-raises and Sligo John, who said he felt this was his hand and that Clancey was trying to push him off with a vulnerable hand, folds .

On their backs, and take a look at this...

John Clancey =

Kevin Buckley =

Chris Smith =

Of course, the crowd wanted an action flop, but it didn't happen.

Flop =

However, the Turn brought tension to 2 players.

Turn =

Only for them to breathe a sigh of relief on the River.

River = Two Diamonds

Sligo John, who almost made a suspect call for all his chips, didn't look best pleased.

On a flop of   Paul Morrow got the full 127,200 in with , against John Clancy who called the final raise with .
on the turn, and a blank river, and half the English players just pressed the red button.

Tom McDaid outdraws Dermot Jacob's Kings on a J-T-2-9-7 board for a timely double up.

--------------

Other news...

One of the few non-Irish players remaining is Dutchman Jens Klenning (apologies for any incorrect spelling), and he has just eliminated one of the locals in Shane Cleary, who until recently had never looked in danger.

However, all the chips went in pre-flop with Shane's Big Slick up against Jens' Pocket Sevens.

No improvement on the Q-4-3-9-J Flop and Shane is a gonna.
